Apple iigs boot problem

Hi, my Apple iigs was working fine one day, started smoking but was still running programs. I thought it was overheating. Had panic attack. Turned off computer. Took all the cards out that i thought was causing overheating.
But, seems power supply went bad. Took out bad power supply and put in good one. Now Power light on iigs comes on, but i dont get a system "beep". Blank display on monitor. Is system fixable? Any ideas appreciated, thanks!

Unfortunately it sounds as if the power supply may have taken the system board with it. Likely the only path to repair is to replace the system board.

Is there a way to check the motherboard? Replacing a board for a rom 01 apple gs. I don't know who does it anymore! I inspected board under magnifyer looks beautiful! . Thanks for your comments. You are probably right. Wish you weren't!

There are ways to test but it's likely if you're asking the question those methods are likely beyond your skills. The easiest way is just to swap the board with a known good one. You said you replaced the power supply with a known good one. Are you certain that power supply is good?

Hi thanks for replying. I have a second iigs that operates perfect. I took power supply out and put it on unbootable iigs. Still no luck! Tried switching cpu's too! That didnt work either. Put good parts back in working iigs and that one works, but iigs with smoking power supply still cant boot!
