I've owned Apple products for 12 years. My first Macbook pro lasted 6 years and my second one is starting its 6th year. Amazing products.
About a week ago I began to experience video issues with the MBP so I made an appointment at the Genius Bar at my local Apple store. I got there, 10 minutes later the Genius had performed diagnostics on my MBP and 10 minutes after that he had re-seated a ribbon cable inside the unit and I was out the door 5 minutes after that.

My warranty expired 2 1/2 years ago but Apple continues to provide basic service and diagnostics for the unit....with a smile.
To the people who say Apple products are expensive, well, I think in this case it was worth every penny....
and my other computer is an 8 year old 27" iMac....and it just keeps on working.

i totally agree.
apple provides unprecedented levels of support and expert advice. seemingly forever.
to all those who say that apple builds obsolescence into its products: an apple computer/mobile device has a natural lifespan due to 2 factors only:
(1) silicon, wires, sockets, glue, rubber, all of it wears out. mainly due to heat (and dirt).
(2) demands that later, newer software places on the entire system that it cant handle well.
apple has done a great job of keeping my iPhone 6s working very well.
apple has done a great job of keeping my MacBook Air 2015 working very well.
it was kind of shock to me that my wife's MacBook Air 2011 couldn't upgrade to macOS Mojave. But it is, after all, 7 years old. 7 years. In the meantime, she can continue to use the 2011 Air for maybe another year until it becomes too unsafe due to lack of security updates.
only apple supplies this level of longevity.
