So then it seems like they don't offer an actual ID that can be used as an ID during the time period that they supposedly make and mail a new one -- seems like the question remains as far as what is it that they then say someone is to do if they actually need an ID in the next few weeks?

Why don't you call the Apple store and explain the situation? They must certainly know what to do.

Must be a California thing. Here in FL I can walk into the DMV with required paperwork (birth cert, passport, etc. ) and get a replacement ID today.

wow here in Germany that would take 2+ weeks unless you pay for express which would still take like 4+ days 😅

Same in California.

The only thing we can get same day is a emergency passport issued by the State Dept at a federal facility.

The only issue is that in order to enter the federal facility, you have to have an ID to be vetted - which would be a problem if the OP does not have one.

good question, i think the cops would accept the printed receipt cause they can actully check that in DMV records...Not sure tho since it doesn't have a picture....

Ok, well i just went down to the Apple store and talked to the manager. Told him what happened and showed him my printed receipt with DMV and old expired passport along with my picture i took of my ID that got stolen. He said no problem, you will still be able to get your phone. Just come see me...So crisis averted. Thanks everyone for your input!!
