Too true. One of my grandfathers was an engineer on the Horton flying wing planes & later in the US, the F117a, among others. He came over with a couple thousand other guys in what is now known as Operation Paperclip. Never talked much about his experiences in the old days, but during the last years of his life he'd make the odd quip about his "choice" (at gunpoint) of immigrating, and not being sure who worked them harder, the Nazis, the USAF, or Lockheed. Those were some busy guys.
 
I'm Russian and Russia may be Europe but it is Eastern Europe. Salaries may be close to those in Europe and the US but they are definitely not the same (they are lower). This depends on the profession but they are in fact lower, even if this is just slightly lower.

It hugely depends on the region. There no such thing as a salary in Russia. Moscow is one of the most expensive cities, I don't think salaries vary much for IT professionals.
