I don’t think Apple needs their own LLM in order to succeed. Apple doesn’t have its own search engine either. Didn’t Steve Jobs say that focus was important? To say “no” to a lot of things? It’s insane that Apple didn’t develop their own LLM so far. Beginning of the end?
One would think they would have started this before now if it's coming out any time soon next year lol.We have the concept of a plan.
Yeah, that ship probably sailed when it called itself “MechaHitler”.Does Tim Cook really hate Elon so much that’s he’d rather partner with the tech devil than temporarily lean on Grok until Apple Intelligence can stand on its own? 🤔
Why would Apple want to integrate a manipulated AI model that heavily leans into conspiracy theories and neonazism? Apple should indeed stay as far away as possible.Does Tim Cook really hate Elon so much that’s he’d rather partner with the tech devil than temporarily lean on Grok until Apple Intelligence can stand on its own? 🤔
The interesting/weird/scary thing about Grok is that it shows that an AI or LLM can be steered in a certain (political) direction. Why would Apple want to integrate a manipulated AI model that heavily leans into conspiracy theories and neonazism? Apple should indeed stay as far away as possible.
I would also add that a lot of the software that launched under Jobs was developed elsewhere and bought by Apple. Mac OS X/macOS itself is based on NeXTSTEP (and the Darwin foundation underlies iOS and all other derivatives), Safari was based on KHMTL, iTunes was based on Sound Jam MP, iDVD/DVD Studio Pro, Final Cut, Logic, and Siri were all developed by third parties. Countless other features that Apple's implemented over the years used open standards for ease of development. Apple back then knew they didn't need to do every damn thing from scratch.Didn’t Steve Jobs say that focus was important? To say “no” to a lot of things?
Too slowly. If my iPhone could run launchers, icon packs, tune animation speeds, control how many icons I can fit on the homescreen, split-screen apps, have a clipboard history... and have Google Gemini? Then it might be an actual SMART-phone.iPhone slowly becoming Android
Google likes paying Apple 20 billion a year because they make a multiple of that amount as a result of Apple using Google for search. Here's an idea for Apple: If Anthropic's fees are too high, JUST EFFING BUY THEM ALREADY AND GET IT OVER WITH.
Although, I must say, this actually makes sense. This way, when Google is compelled by the courts to stop paying Apple 20 billion a year for default Google search results, Google can pay Apple the same amount for default Gemini search results instead. It's pretty obvious by now that Google really likes paying Apple 20 billion dollars a year, and Apple really likes accepting that 20 billion, so why mess with a winning formula? Leave these poor kids alone for gosh sake.
And the wheels keep spinning, round and round.
Not that insane. Apple has a long tradition of partnering with other companies. For a long time , Apple relied on Google to develop their iOS map app. Eventually , they ended up making their own map app, but it took them almost a decade. It’s insane that Apple didn’t develop their own LLM so far. Beginning of the end?
