HUGE if true. I wonder what Apple would do with the James Bond films if they added them to their service - some of the early Sean Connery ones have not aged gracefully, taking into account all the attitudes and stereotypes towards women that the Bond films are famous for.
Disney is running a bunch of movies (though not Song of the South) unaltered, with notes in the description that point out that various bits of the movie do not mesh well with modern sensibilities. I would expect Apple to do the same.

That's a good idea. Though I think the anti-PC police would have a field day with Apple if they did that. Disney gets a pass because they are well known for that kind of policy.

i am surprised the Culturally Outraged haven’t given Apple stick over all the heavy smoking by, well everyone, in For All Mankind.

you just know eventually some authoritarian government of the future led by those types will legislate for movie studios to digitally alter old movies and shows to remove the evil cancer sticks if they ever want to make them publicly available again.

Third party content? Now are are talking... Add the huge iTunes Movies library and NCAA football and I am in!

Live sports is an area Apple TV + can shine. I wouldn’t be surprised if they announce partnerships with the NFL, MLB, or NBA. Apple already has a great partnership with Major League Baseball with the iPads and Apple Music advertisements (and the Apple Watches lol)

Would have been very nice to have had access to both the Utah & Oregon games this past college regular season !

I do want to add that it would be a damn good test for streaming something Live, which as most of us know, any popular event streamed live doesn't compare, quality-wise, to cable OR satellite, OR over the air digital broadcast.

Yep. Apple just seems to be winging it here.
Tell us more about your strategy.

Apple has THE best execution strategy in the last 10 years and the most profitable 10 years in corporate history.

If Apple TV gets into sports, watch out. Sports are HIGHLY coveted, like it or not. Sports crush in ratings.

If Apple could stream the Pac12 Networks I could finally cut my cable. I watch ZERO Comcast content anymore and only keep it for college/UW football (1/4 of the year). So full speed ahead and provide options to purchase individual games or a "season pass". With bowl game as optional add-on.

Would be better for Apple to buy MGM instead of licensing rights. It’s the current licensing policies that is the main reason streaming services prices go up. And also content getting pulled.

PAC 12 is problematic—it’s night games are too late for EST & CST viewers.

Plus the football is trash.

That's not true. Ohio State is the class of the Big-10 but let's be real. Ohio State is the only good Big-10 team that runs a modern offense. I watched Penn St, Michigan and Wisconsin and honestly none of their offenses were good enough to get the playoffs. I think it's a good conference ...top teams play good Defense but those offenses are nothing to be afraid of. UW vs Michigan should be a great game to see where the P12 and B12 matchup next season.

Yes, please!

I would totally love to see my alma mater on Apple TV+.

I hate to admit it but the P12 will always be considered weak if USC isn't having a good year. It was that way before the Conference Championship and remains today. Night games suck short week games suck. USC lost a short week game. 4 out 5 UW losses were night and road games. Larry Scott is wrecking the conference. USC,UW, Oregon and Utah could beat most of the ACC teams this year not named Clemson.

Biggest problem the Pac 12 has is how far USC has tumbled. An elite program that would get eyeballs from across the nation is less than a shell of itself. Perhaps Oregon can become what USC used to be.

Apple+ will be a HUGE failure outside the US. I have never seen that much US-heavy content (almost all their shows deal with US political issues) and now this. They should have maybe launched this + only in America.

Look at netflix on how it's done with worldwide audiences and international content.

Kinda think they should've thought of this BEFORE starting their streaming service. Definitely winging it.
I have no idea where this “Apple is just winging it with AppleTV+” talking point came from but I’ve seen it a number of times, in multiple articles. Maybe one of you can enlighten me lol.

Personally, I think being open to major content deals has been part of Apple’s game plan since day one. How many deals have they already tried to make over the last 2.5 years? Oh that’s right—you don’t know.

I’m not sure where the disconnect is, as there are a number of outlets reporting the MGM deal as just a content deal. Maybe the article was updated. However, according to the (current) WSJ article, Apple is reportedly interested in acquiring MGM Holdings, in a deal that could be worth $10 billion. From that WSJ article:

"There aren’t a lot of potential acquisitions that could meaningfully change that trajectory,” said Matthew Ball, former head of strategy at Amazon Studios. Still, he said a deal for MGM or a studio of that size would expand Apple’s content offering, improve new-show development and accelerate growth.

The meetings with MGM included Apple’s head of mergers and acquisitions, Adrian Perica, said people familiar with the matter.

10 years from now, when there are 23 different streaming services you need to get and pay for to watch all "exclusive" content, and we will be missing the days of the good old cable. The more things improve, the worse they get...
