A Christmas Carol is just so.... tired. How many adaptations do we need? Every sitcom, cartoon, and drama seems to take a stab at it sooner or later. There are countless movie adaptations as well. Between Disney, Scrooged and Patrick Stewart... does the world really care about another version?

So this is what Apple execs think the company should be spending its money on?

Supposedly they don't get involved in the process. But maybe they should have in this instance.

Is there any other computer/phone/tablet/etc maker producing their own tv and movie content? Seems pretty different tbh.
That sounds like a wrong type of "different". What's next? Are they going into song writing?

BTW, Amazon produces both hardware and TV content.

Because Hollywood (Including Apple) still favor reboots, sequels and cinematic universes based on existing properties.
Many say we’re in a golden age of content. There certainly are a lot of superhero movies, but if you’re bored with them, don’t watch them. Reboots and sequels are nothing new, I don’t think they’re responsible for the ironic use of Apple hate memes.

Heed you're own advice on memes. FIN

I am completely fascinated by this Apple TV stuff. I honestly can't tell if Apple is genius or insane to pursue this, but I do appreciate that they're going all in. Hey, if you're going to do it, do it big.

Best case, they're trying to make the TV equivalent of the blue imessage bubble. Shows and movies that will make people feel left if they're not (or can't) watch them. It nudges you toward Apple products and de-commodifies the tech. Anyone can have a nice screen, but you'll be missing out on water cooler conversations about shows and movies with your Android life.
Or, you just buy an apple tv

Just trying to imagine being a journalist reporting that two well-known actors (I know one of them) will make "staggering" $$$multi-millions starring in "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens and not mentioning which roles they will be payed to play.

I can see Will Ferrell as Mr Magoo, but which part will the other guy get paid so much for?
