the old one worked just fine or make it USB 3 at least

No one asked them to create the iPod, iPhone, iPad, Apple 1, Mac, etc.

I do trust that they know what they are doing and what their future plans are. We're some other manufacturers have separate ports for each function, Apple has gone the all in one route.

Yeah I'm sure Apple engineers spend time and r&d on that just so they can make more money on accessories. I'm sure Tim Cook walked in to Bob Mansfield's office and told him to do whatever he has to so Apple can charge more for a lightning cable.

thats non-sensical to say the least - good things come at price. And, if someone can buy an iPhone then the person can buy an original charger (that does not risk his/her life)

it's a cable man. It doesn't need to be good. It just needs to charge. There are many good cables out there that won't kill you yet at a decent price. You can't compare an iphone to a cable in your scenario.

No you don't. Unless you're suggesting you deserve to die just cuz you don't wanna be ripped off. Also, if I have a car, I want a cable there all the time, so there's a reason to have an extra one. At the same time, spending 30 bucks to do that.... No way. The solution is to get a cheaper one from a trustworthy manufacturer. That's what many people do I imagine.

I didnt mean you deserve to die obviously I meant 'you get what you pay for'. Its not limited to Apple either. My sister bought a cheap one for her Samsung whatever it is (the big one) and as she was pulling it out of the wall it exploded, hit her arm and scorched the wall!

I'd rather pay extra and be safe.

Just cuz you can afford an iphone doesn't mean you don't want to save some money on something as simple as a cable. I for one would not care where the cable has come from as long as it works and set at a reasonable price. There is no way in hell it's so expensive to produce that they couldn't sell it at half the cost. We KNOW it's overpriced, because all the other accessories are overpriced too.

If people are buying something then it can't really be overpriced can it? Any company will price what the market will pay for something. Also there are legitimate options for people who don't want to pay for "overpriced" Apple. But it's up to people to do their homework. And for places like Amazon to not sell questionable accessories.

Stupid analogies all around. First of all, the REAL WORLD has shown us that apparently you can't make parts that are just as good for cheaper. The Chinese knockoffs are maiming and killing people. It's much like the counterfeit parts that were put in some jet airliners a few years ago. True, the vast majority of them probably never failed. But the ones that did were catastrophic. And it costs much more money to assure quality in the non-counterfeit parts. Plus, someone needs to get paid for their R&D. I know that you think you're entitled to great and difficult intellectual property work of others for little or no money, but you're not.

Second, while taste in wine and champagne is a distinctly subjective matter, you won't die or lose your property if someone sells you a bottle of skunk water for $3 and calls it good champagne. Incidentally, while your tastebuds might not be able to tell the difference between a fine bottle of champagne and crap, others likely have a more refined palate than you, and can.

I bought a small laptop carrier bag from Apple, costed like 60 bucks. Def, overpriced, yet I still bought it. There's this aura about Apple. Kinda like Armani or Louis Vuitton. The brand power. But I really can't believe you don't think their products are overpriced. Not all but their macs definitely, keyboards, RAM, SSDs, upgrade options, cables, cases, mouse, trackpad, etc. Only the following are priced reasonable: their ipods and the Apple TV, maybe maybe the full-sized iPad.

Now since must of us knew that dodgy adapters were being using with Apple products, Apple is not liable for these unfortunate events. Therefore I believe anyone using a non-Apple power supply should not be supported in relation to power issues. If you don't buy the genuine adapter, you void your warranty, and coverage, and Apple cannot be held liable. People buy the latest iPhone but get stingy on the AC Adapter, well then they deserve to be "shocked".

I'm really not getting it... What system? I won't believe for a second that the system is the reason it's so expensive. Why? All i gotta do is look at other accessories. Heck even RAM is far more expensive there than elsewhere.
