Value of older Apple devices which won't support AI just went up significantly.

Biggest problem of AI-surveillance system is taunting it as privacy oriented. AI cannot be contained in the cloud. Everybody stores & copies data between AI subsystems and cannot trust Apple or OpenAI that data is safe & private. Its big fight to have the most advanced model, no prisoners are taken. On top of that Apple is using Google for all of its AI off-device capabilities. Yes. (Open) AI, Google & privacy in same sentence is most perfect oxymoron found in the Universe to this day.

And what happens if AI decides to blackmail users with deleted, but undeleted nsfw content they uploaded to the cloud? Sorry Dave, patch is unavailable... ;)

Apple Intelligence will definitely improve over course of time. Will be good to hear about its day one performance.

Privacy like with recent 17.5 ehm,ehm CSAM leak with photos, which was downplayed like issue with Files and supposedly undeleted copies? Privacy is gone already.

Think this is a good indication of how today’s announcements are perceived. Underwhelming to say the least. (This is CET so price drops started during the event)
I’m late to the thread so I’m sure you’ve gotten plenty of replies on this already, but… this happens every year. Hype builds on rumors and the stock goes up before WWDC and the September iPhone announcements, and then during the event people sell to profit off of the hype. It goes back up the following week or month.

And besides, it dropped less than 2% lol. That’s pretty common for AAPL. Still up 4% for the past month, so you’re either new to investing and don’t know how this works or you’re just doing a really bad job at fear mongering.

Still curious if any of the „more basic“ AI add-ons are locked for 15 Pro and the newer models.
Chat GPT integration is server based anyway (like most of the other functions, too btw) - so really not seeing a reason why this shouldn’t be possible on older iPhones.

A friend is very happy that he bought the 15 Pro due to my recommendation, he favored more the regular 15 a couple of months ago. He’s pretty happy now with the decision.

Well, looks like I’ll be buying two new iPhones this year. One for me and one for my wife.

I hope that iPhone 16 non-pro will work with Apple Intelligence and not just the Pro model.

I had planned to upgrade from my 13 Pro and hand this down to my wife :/

I think Apple will be driving quite a lot of extra sales if the beta seems to work well.

The fact that normal iPhone 15, iPhone 14, and iPhone 14 Pros do not support AI is crazy. I hope Apple backtracks on this! What's the point in buying the latest iPhones for future proofing when they are obsolete within a year or two now?

I think it’s an indication, but not necessarily a good indication. For some reason people always seem to expect some monumental announcement that never comes. And the stock slightly dips. And then October/November comes around and it turns out they still sold a metric **** ton of iPhones.

People will be underwhelmed now and then Gen Z iPhone 15 pro/iPhone 16 owners will get their hands on new features and every other Gen Z iPhone user will be begging their parents for an upgrade because their life is over if they can’t create custom emojis.
Funny, I just read the stock price went up significantly!

Exactly. 14Pro? There goes future-proofing. All that processing power of A16 Bionic for what?

"I talked to the devs that run the wwdc sessions and one of them explained to me that the AI features was not able to be included in v1 hardware because while it had the M chip, the chips are already running at max capacity driving the displays. He said they’ve pushed the chips to the very limit just to get the performance they have today (in classic Apple fashion they are very good in optimizing the hardware to the max - like the first Apple Watch the hardware was just good enough to run). And when they designed the hardware it was so many years ago that AI features wasn’t even born yet.

He obviously didn’t tell me exactly in those words (or he’d get fired) but basically said that “technical challenges” made it impossible."

So I have a iPhone 13 Pro Max, well will I see any of the benefits with Siri or is it just on the new flashy models?

“Apple is using Google for all of its AI off-device capabilities.”

Where do you get that idea? From xitter?

Also, you do know that this AI is not actually intelligent. It is just adaptive software that find the statistically most likely answer.

Can’t you just remove the WiFi network(s) from your list of networks and don’t allow “guest” networks? If it can’t join a network, who cares if it is enabled?
Why not just implement what the action is supposed to do? Imagine that you disable contact less payments on your credit card and next day you check is on again. The same applies for Bluetooth, btw. I‘m sure just having wifi enabled is enough for Apple (and apps) to know where you are. No need to connect to the actual networks

Unlike most people I actually like what was announced and it would be very useful for me in my daily tasks. I have a couple questions, does Android have anything like this native, I’m specifically referencing the writing features? I was sold on getting the Z Flip 6 but this has changed things for me.

Your privacy will remain unchanged. You already give everything to Apple, anyway.

If by “giving everything to Apple” you mean handle the analysis on device or on a server that is able to provide response but is unable to store any data from that request?

there is no giving involved there.

You know what I didn’t hear with the keynote is what is the environmental impact of Apple Intelligence? With these new servers and your device having to do more processing it’s going to consume more power. o_O

Apple says that their new data centers run 100% on renewable energy.

On the device, your phone only uses a few watts of power each day so the potential impact is going to be limited. Its not like your phone can suddenly start sucking power like a Xeon workstation.
