Never thought I'd pine for the skeuomorphic reel-to-reel version of the Podcasts app.
I think a lot of the pain points come from the fact that they substantially changed library management in the new Podcasts, and many of us find it unintuitive.Actually after using the updated podcast app, it’s not that bad. Many try to compare it to Overcast which is a high standard to meet. Although Overcast has some drawbacks as well, like not being able to mark an episode as played and not being synced with other Apple devices.
No. No. It's innovation. The whole app is a nightmare.
Wait, that would suggest it’s not at all bad, that it’s not garbage—little like my reply.Wait, there's usable garbage?
Yes totally agree….and since then it’s always felt like a work in progress, promising so much.Back when Podcasts and Music were in the same app, things seemed to work so much better and more reliable.
Scott Forstall is that you? You know you're due in court. The Podcast app has been trash for a long time and it's only got worse since .5 dropped. What the **** is Federighi getting paid for? Ever since he took over iOS and MacOS X both software platforms have gotten worse with each subsequent release.
My bad, I was going with "a thing that is considered worthless or meaningless" definition of garbage, hence my misunderstanding. That definition didn't clarify whether something could still be useable in its worthlessness.Wait, that would suggest it’s not at all bad, that it’s not garbage—little like my reply.
Only some users are affected by the outage
Agree. They seem to have spent 99% of the time designing the "Podcasts" section (it is after all what drives new subscriptions and where the money will come from) and for the rest of the app they were like "eh, whatever".For a company that was long known for its intuitive UI, I still find it bizarre that the Podcasts app is so bad. It always has been. It’s been tinkered with a lot, but it’s never ever been a good interface. And it’s just podcasts, for goodness sake… it should be bread n butter stuff for Apple’s iOS app team.
