I noticed that the screen on the screen on the new Air feels "springy" and "cheap". The Ipad 4 and prior generation screens felt "solid". When you tap on the new Air screen it feels like it is hollow (springy effect) below where as the prior generation ipads when you tap on the screen if feels solid (solid glass like). Obviously the screen is new and lighter, but damn I am not happy with it. Also does not feel as "smooth" when gliding finger over it. Like the reduced size, but would rather have the same glass screen as the prior Ipad generations. Should have kept my Ipad4.

You still can!
Easy fix:
Return your iPad Air and purchase another iP4 on the secondary market. Chances are you will pick it up even cheaper than you sold yours for as they appear to be so many dumped into the marketplace right now.

Win/win.

Never really noticed it until you mentioned it,not a big deal to me.I believe part of the weight reduction was reducing the thickness of the the glass.

I noticed that as well, coming from an iPad 3. I guess that's the price for a lighter device, but it makes me hold off on selling my iPad 3, and I still grab it a lot instead of the iPad Air. I'd almost want to keep the 3 for in-home use and the Air for out and about. Hmmm.

The smaller bezel also is a bit of a drawback when I use my handwriting apps like Noteshelf. Again, that's the price to pay for a smaller, lighter device. :(

The Air's screen is much thinner, and therefore lighter, than the previous iPads. The Mini's screen is also much thinner, and it only took a few days for me to get used to it. The Air feels normal to me, because I abandoned using my iPad 4 a long time ago. Rest assured, the screen is glass, and its specs were highlighted during the October event.

P.S. One of Apple's videos show the Air being dropped in slow motion. It bounces and flexes after hitting the floor, and I imagine the old iPads would shatter. I'm not going to handle May Air carelessly, but lighter weight along with a more flexible screen might actually save you a couple hundred dollars.

Guess it will take some time getting use to, like with any new device. Well at least I have 30 days before I make my final decision to keep it.

Fingerprints aren't a big issue at all and the Air runs quite cool.

This is what I noticed more than me agreeing with any threads about the display feeling cheap regardless.

30 days? Where did you buy it?

I don't know how hard your guys tap your iPad screens, but I haven't noticed any difference in my experience going from iPad 3 to the new Air. And I've owned the iPad 2 and original before...

To anyone concerned about all these posts regarding a "cheap" feeling screen, my advice is to disregard it as overly sensitive ********, no offense intended to anyone posting here who is is overly sensitive. :)

It's not a cheap feeling, but it definitely is different .

I noticed the difference as well, going from an iPad 2 to the Air. However, it doesn't really seem "cheap" to me. Just...different. If I drum my finger nails on on the screen, that's where I can tell the biggest difference. The Air sounds hollow, where the iPad 2 doesn't. But I love the design of the Air. I thought the smaller bezel would annoy me, but really I don't notice it a whole lot.

Not sure where you bought it but 30 day return policies on electronics are not the norm even at Walmart. Usually it's 14 days.

I bought mine at Target and they said that it was 30 days. I just looked at my reciept and it says return by 01/04/2014. So looks like it is actually 90 days.

The difference is noticeable but the weight outweighs the thinner screen IMO. I got used to it pretty quickly. I just love the fact I can read a book now without my arm getting so tired. :)

Well that's good! Probably because it's the holiday season. Most places have a return policy through January.

The Mini felt the same first time I used it. Expected similar with the Air but after using it all day I think the Air feels a little more solid than the Mini. As others have said, insignificant difference for losing some weight on the Air.

Honestly the word cheap did come to mind when I gave it a few taps but I've grown comfortable with it. Sure a sturdy feel is nice but it fits with the air motif. I'll take the different "feel" to get the wonderful weight.

i wouldnt say its cheapy feeling, just lighter and less layers of glass there.. hence the lighter feel! I love mine to be honest..:)
