U know the Big "iPhones" playing the demo videos in the front window of the apple store.

OK so I was interested to know where apple got, and where they go after they are done being used.

I wand one soooooooooo bad, you have no idea!!! :p

Why not just buy a TV and make a cardboard case for it to look like an iPhone?

Sure, it's not quite the same - but it depends how good you are and if you're really that sad :)

well i don't think i can make an iPhone

I could prolly make a snow iMac :plol

They look to me like they're using 30" cinema displays in them.

So, you can start by buying one of those...

(After that, I'm not sure, but it's a start!)

did you think a giant iphone would be like $20?
No but i dont wanna buy a display for a project that may not work out

The ones that they have in the shops aren't going to be cheap - they probably only made 50 of them, that would make them very expensive each... if they made millions (think real iPhone), they would be a lot cheaper...

yeah i know

(they prollly made like 200)

however many Apple stores there are in the US(not sure out of country), they made that many...every Apple store in US has one giant iPhone screen thingymabober

Probably done with Flash. At least some of the demos use Microsoft based PCs:

Store iPhone display booting for the day with XP

Apple also uses Windows CE for their handheld checkout devices.

Yeah i know the AT&T ones use PC but the ones that i am talking about the big iPhones those use macs

and yeah they do use windows for there handhelds but i here they are going to switch to iPhones soon

u ever think that the Windows based computers are half the price of a Mac???

thats why they had the Windows on a dell or whatever in there....why spend more than 1Grand when you can do the same exact thing....for 300$..

thats not what we are here to talk about

So the question is, are both the Macs and PCs using the same program or data?

(Is it Flash based... is it interactive at all, or is it simply a movie that repeats? I haven't watched the displays to see.)

Don't the current Windows CE ones have a label scanner and credit card reader ?

It's seriously quite simple...get a crappy LCD monitor and insert DVD. Put on some decorative crap around the TV and you have an oversize iPhone that doesn't do anything but loop the clip.

Kids nowadays are not any less gullible than the previous generation...

Putting a label scanner and credit card reader on an iPhone should be interesting.

no it would be like a big wrap around dock

oh yeah and its just a movie

sorry for the double post

If it's just a movie, I'm a little surprised they didn't just use a $30 DVD player outputting to a large LCD screen, instead of dedicating a computer to it.

Ah well.

Okay, a movie. In which case I'm just as surprised that a copy hasn't made its way onto the net. Or has it?
