This is a bit counterintuitive, but in the next 4-6 years, Apple will be in the best position for AI without even having to make any models. Why? let me explain: In the near future, AI innovation will plateau, and giant AI companies will scramble for 5% increases over small companies like mistral. Their leverage will disappear. Apple devices will be the platform for AI, and in the end, the platform always wins. Companies like Google will soon start paying billions to be the default AI model, since 70% of the world's money is owned by people with iPhones.

Great! In six years, Apple's AI will will be better than other AI systems. Until then, Apple's AI is so bad and Apple is treating AI so poorly that AI software engineers are leaving in droves. Hallelujah! Only a LiquidGlass fan could say that.

Nah. Google is in the power position here. Apple blew it.
I have more day-to-day experience with ChatGPT, but I have found Gemini pretty darn good. I envision it being kind of an interim step over a longer horizon. Apple could utilize the custom Gemini version we’ve been hearing about in the near-term, but could eventually evolve to a broader set of offerings and even potentially something beyond LLMs. Obviously, there will be a lot of nuance to that, but I guess we’ll see…

Gemini is definitely good enough. Add to that it has a hardware platform where it's the default option.

The biggest thing for me using Gemini isn't so much the day to day LLM model stuff, but the fact that voice control for home just has so much inference it doesn't really screw up any more. Siri just doesn't come close.

Apple’s AI will never be better but everyone will pay to be the default AI behind Siri

Apples security and privacy first design philosophy is a major hinderance to AI capabilities and performance. Since there isn't much of a way around that Apple will always be dealing with a handicap when it comes to AI.

Googles privacy hub makes it fairly clear about the incredible amount of data it can collect and how you should not share any data that you aren't ok with another human (reviewer) knowing.....

Apple can't compete with something so invasive.....

Odd logic, Apple wins the AI race because people will be paying Google billions.

since 70% of the world's money is owned by people with iPhones.
That sounds made up - can you back up that statement of fact and cite evidence?

I'm no android fan, but that doesn't mean take away the fact they are the most dominate platform
