I actually like the size of the lens. I would not mind if there got even larger in size. The bigger the better.

Larger is fine…as long as the lens is flush with the casing and not sticking out.
Definitely seems like it, especially on mobile with most other phones touting the punch hole look, Apple is able to distinguish themselves with the notch.
I don’t get what all the fuss is about after all these years with the notch at this point.
On the other hand I don’t fully understand why they had to put the notch on the MacBook Pros without FaceID, should we expect iPad Pros with notch to at some point? I wonder.
Notch has never bothered me and I still think a punch hole having pixels around it looks weirder than an extension of the bezel.
Its not about hating notch but i prefer a notchless screen.
They made the bezels smaller, inside the MacBook notch you’ve got a camera with a larger sensor, True Tone sensor, ambient sensor etc, that tech had to go somewhere. You still get much larger screen even with the black bar that comes up when viewing content.
I don't think there's necessarily a connection. The iPad for example, does not have a notch. The Mac is only now getting a notch after the iPhone having it since 2017. The iPhone 13 went out of its way to deemphasize the notch by making it smaller and they continue to hide it with wallpapers. macOS also hides its notch in general operation.
In fact, I actually like the way its implemented on the Mac and don't feel its equivalent to the one on the iPhone.
I feel the Mac and iPhone are doing their own thing and I think they only embrace it as much as they need to. When they're able to get rid of it without much compromise or shrink it they will likely do so.

I think the mistake is people assuming that eliminating the notch is actually a goal that they have.
On MacBooks, there wasn’t a notch in the past and there wasn’t any need for one - yet they ADDED one.
I would guess it was added for the same reason as on the iPhone, they want it to be "bezel-less".
