Apple Is Testing a Four-HomePod Surround System, Code Suggests

I recently had the issue with mine playing music on their own and it ALWAYS happened while I was in bed. Did some digging and the issue is apparently “phantom touch” on the display triggering it. The workaround is to use the accessibility settings to increase the touch duration. I have yet to have it happen since then.
I mean, a premium product that provides a profit when each one sells sounds like “success” to me.
I was “gifted” a HomePod mini a few years back and it is probably the worst experience I’ve ever had with an Apple product. Terrible connection, sound delays, haunted phantom music playing, I would never buy these based on that experience. I’ll take a high quality soundbar and call it a wrap.
This was an obvious feature they should have worked on years ago.
I moved on to two Sonos systems in my house, and I couldn’t be happier. AirPlay is also way more reliable on Sonos than on the HomePods.
I still have a bunch of them around, but most are gen 1. To have to buy all new speakers, and not have subs in a TV setup, it just still won’t be as good as a full Sonos system.
Apple should have had Beats make home audio airplay speakers/sound bars years ago.

The interesting part of this post, why today? Had the hardware for a good number of years. Now we start to see some utilization of the hardware in “Apple” uniqueness. Old saying better late than never would seem to be appropriate.
I tried two HomePods for my TV last year and could never get them to work properly with my wifi. It was an endless cycle of troubleshooting and frustration, so I returned them and went with a basic wired soundbar. They're the only wifi products in my house that didn't work.
Anyone who actually paid for a HomePod must be out of their mind. It’s Apple’s ********* product by far. And I say that as someone who owns several of them. I had to take every single one apart because ghost touches made them randomly turn on at full volume in the middle of the night xD

This would be amazing. I have a pair in the living room, and I would definitely add another pair to expand the sound. My current living room is on the large size, and more speakers would help a lot. I also agree that a sound bar would be nice.

But doesn't that mean that the Quads are not really a good comparison with the HomePods?

Long due feature. I see no reason why OG Homepods hardware would not be capable of it.
Anyways, I am not buying neither four of 2/3rd gen HP not 2 OG HP (to add to mine 2, but any of them can die in any minute, not counting that ebay prices are a lil crazy for 9yo device).
PS : just noticed, it approaches to 10 years of OS support, will it be the longest one in Apple history?

That sucks. I have several stereo pairs set up and they work fine. Maybe a networking issue going on there.
I hope this permits HomePods for the front two and HomePod Minis for the rear two. I already have 2 minis that I use as my stereo pair, and it would be great just to migrate them to be the rear speakers. The room they're in isn't very big, so I don't really need full-blown HomePods just for the rear channels.
