Whatever, it's a nice little laptop perfect for how I use it, and the speed isn't too bad either.

Hi 0dev,
Don't get me wrong. Netbooks are great for some applications. I have a Hackintoshed Wind running Snow Leopard. It runs great and I love it.

But

I am a techie. I am happy to prod-away on a tiny touchpad. I can steer the mouse and find a tiny scrollbar. I don't find the full-blown OS a disadvantage.

But if my need for a computer was simply reading, browsing, social networking, media playback and games - then a device purpose-built for those activities would not look anything like a netbook and certainly would not work anything like a netbook.

There are better ways it could be done, but PC makers are not an innovative bunch. Making the current design smaller is good enough for them.

Enter the iSlate... ;)

Clearly the splatterpaint is indicative of Jobs' new wardrobe. We'll be in for a surprise this keynote!

Maybe they'll call it the Jackson Pollock....looks like his handiwork in the art choice. :p

Love, LOVE the "Canvas" name suggestion.

I like the Pollock thought...but as I've read through this thread I kinda was wondering if this might be a Marc Ecko piece?

Using a Windows netbook for fun, is like throwing a kids party and getting an accountant as the entertainer.

But real fun would be having a kid throw a Windows netbook at an accountant!!!

Alas my girl is an accountant...but not a geek...I'm safe!!!

I kinda think of Education when I hear iSlate, imagine it on every desk for every student, as a book reader that can also let you doodle/draw/paint, make notes around the books? No teacher would want all the paper ones vandalised anyways, plus an awesome iPod on steroids, gaming device, cloud/wifi music/email/video/photo device to boot, – Just praying it doesn't come with a stylus.

 iTunes Store getting fatter :)

Nice idea, but have you seen what's been happening to education budgets lately? Here in California I can't imagine that many school districts will have the funds to put one of these on every desk. My wife is a primary school teacher and she can't get the schools she's been at to spend anything on computer equipment. She had to go out and buy old used PCs out of her own pocket so her students would have some kind of computers to use. And the state budget is only getting worse for education.

The sad thing is, NZ school systems ar ebetter than American ones! And we're like 1/16th the size.

Wow. There are some really stupid ideas in these threads. I think I'm going to take 24 hours off Macrumors and come back tomorrow when everyone is bitching.

Friggin goofballs.

I'm going to be away from my computer most of tomorrow and want to know what's the best site to use via iPhone/iPod Touch to get information as the conference is going. I mean by best/easiest/simplest to read via Safari on iPhone or maybe even an app lol.
