If you visit Apple's MPEG4 information page, let your eyes drift to the bottom of the page... which houses a small hyperlink with the following characters :k: (screenshot) and a link to http://uncaptheride.com/babble.html which contains white text on white background:

Hack? Scavenger hunt? Aliens?

Update: It appears to be part hunt/?subplot related to BMW Films

seems to be talking about a car, BMW possibly (beemer)...but 1974 2002 coupe?? That's confusing.

anyone have access to classifieds of the NYTimes from Aug 14??

Apple has given us a sign, it seems to be about a car. APPLE WILL MAKE A MACINTOSH COMPATIBLE CAR!!!

OK, just kidding, what kind of rumor is this? I would rather hear news about Phill Schiller.:D
 
yeah, i think that it is talking about "beemers" as in BMW. Black, 1974 led me to this guess. i think beemers is mispelled and crosses is translated wrong. perhaps someone just cut and pasted some text where it didn't belong. i'm sticking with my car theory.
 
personally I think they had the lawyers that when insane from dealing with the licensing issues put it there.....


edit: after looking at http://uncaptheride.com/ either this is some brilliant ploy by Hi-Res, or some rather deranged hacker.
 
hmm the key page uses encryption....and it appears the domain is regged to some webdesign sales person or something?

not confusing at all. 2002 is the model of the car, 1974 is the year. my roommate just got a 1972 2002, awesome little car. One of the first true small sports cars made.
 
I tried every veriation of that that I can think of, numeric only, alpha numeric, no luck
 
august14.com and august06.com
(06.com is same person... 14.com is different person but same state...)
 
080690 is/was the anniversary date. got it from the picture with the file on it. can't get the pics now site has received max number of visits for the day.
