Still have a working white plastic G4 I’ll say 13 inch screen, he can play all those old power PC games like Oni and Myth and my favorite rocket bowl.
Don’t forget that those same replaceable batteries also had a tendency to warp as they aged…ask me how I know. Used to travel with an extra battery, but that wasn’t always efficient as the once fully charge second battery would loose power just sitting there. I think I still have my 2007 MBP, sans battery.Oh, the days of 2.5hrs of battery life.
NOT good times…. NOT.
people later found out it's because the factory put on thermal paste like toothpaste (aka way too much) instead of a tiny dropThis was a frustrating hot potato of a laptop, so hot that notebook became the preferred term, as you couldn't have it on your lap.
same. Not sure why, the unibody models never felt as elegant/classy compared to the AluBook design to meAll things considered, my favorite laptop design of all time.
This device and its drop in Intel successors were quite regal compared to the rest of the market.
My favorite one that I remember seeing back then was, "Shh, don't say that name! Call it The Scottish Laptop."There were a lot of people online who hated the name.
Yep...lid, screen, deck, keyboard and trackpad. Just like EVERY OTHER LAPTOP.19 years and it's still the same basic design.
It's really quite remarkable, I appreciate how far we've come.Yeah! Dual cores in a laptop, I was so hyped! Got mine with the core 2 duo and it felt like pure witch craft. Alien tech, but then thermals on the NVIDIA GPU kicked in.
Insane how far we’ve come. I mean it now handles a M4 Max with 14 CPU and 32 (!!!) GPU Cores.
Was such an exciting time as a Mac user. The intel switch was such a great move - glad we’ve moved on to Apple Silicon now, but was so great moving from stagnant powerpc chips to a platform with a future
Compare it to the clam shell. Remember when Mac made fresh design products? And you're right, it's just like EVERY OTHER LAPTOP. That's the problem.Yep...lid, screen, deck, keyboard and trackpad. Just like EVERY OTHER LAPTOP.![]()
It was but there was no "Mac" in the name.PowerBook is still a better name in my "book"
