Currently, on the phone to Apple Support - we've gone around the houses verifying everything and ensuring that I qualify. On hold, while the operator consults with higher-up types..

Well, that went well - not terribly productive at all. As my Watch was bought through my carrier on contract, I have provide proof to Apple that I purchased it. Alas EE in the UK have never been great about documentation and even their own bloody web site gets the bloody device wrong and still lists it as the series 4. This, despite having purchased bloody AppleCare+ for the sodding Watch Series 6 device, Apple cannot issue any kind of coupon for the trial.

So, I have to go through to EE and get them to provide some evidence that I have bought the device through them via contract so I can prove to Apple that it's my device. Technically it's not my device, of course, but I'm sure you get the idea.

And I've been on the phone with Apple Support for over an hour.

All this for a bloody three-month trial.

Don't think I'll bother now.

Can someone tell me if the free subscription with the new apple watch is individual or family plan?

I don’t have a recent Apple TV but really thought I’d have been able to airplay the workouts from my phone to my smart tv.
how very very naïve of me. when will I learn.

Thought they close at 19.45?

Their chat seems to be open, so I'm trying my luck there. As much as I love EE, their documentation and web site have been terrible over the years. In order to get anything done, you need to call them or use the chat system (I've always called, TBH). All I need to show Apple is something from my EE account that I'm using an Apple Watch Series 6, with the contract starting on the 17th September. This should not be difficult. But it is.

Where did you go for the chat?

There doesn't seem to be any way to fast forward in these workouts. Thats kind of a bummer.

I did a bike, strength, core, and took their advise and did my first cooldown yoga session. I feel great and the integration with the watch was pretty neat

I am also among the people that is not being offered the 3 month free trial, despite having gotten a Series 6 watch at launch. I bought my watch in Germany, but my Apple ID and everything is Australian. Unsure if that has anything to do with it. But I did get the watch directly from the Apple online store, so it's not a carrier thing.

For those of you who are having problems with the ATV and AppleWatch pairing (gets Pairing canceled when selecting watch in the Fitness+ app). Apple support had me unpair and re-pair my watch with my Phone and it now works.

Honestly, why not launch this on non English speaking countries? Even if it’s with a huge disclaimer saying “this service is not yet available in your language, we can send you a notification when it becomes available, in the mean time it is available in English”.

So many people in Europe speak English, especially higher income people which are also the ones buying the latest iPhone and Apple Watch, all my Apple products are set to English. And it’s the same for Apple News, I read the Financial Times, I read the New York Times, all the podcasts I listen to are in English, why can’t I access Apple News? And it’s been years since it launched. This is why Apple and so many other US companies have less market share in Europe, because they treat us like an after thought and in a fragmented way when the EU alone it’s actually a bigger market than the US. Japanese, South Korean and Chinese companies don’t do that, and that is why the PlayStation for example has always completely dominated Europe, even the PS3 which was more expensive than the Xbox 360. I never even see any ads for Apple products.

Hmmm... not really a fan of the format based on what I see. Looks like most of the courses are 10-20min, which isn’t a full workout. So you need more than one, but how do you determine which ones to stack together? If I choose two 10min core workouts, how do I know they’ll be complimentary? Or at least not redundant? And it would be nice if they played back-to-back without stopping.

Seems like they need a way to build workout routines (think playlists but for workouts).

And too large an emphasis on the type music, and not enough emphasis on the type of fitness (eg what type of core training, or what type of treadmill running).

So, I've just spent an hour+ on the phone with Apple Support and after speaking to about 4 people I got transferred to someone who had at least *some* idea what I was on about.

The lady I was speaking to initially told me that my Watch was no longer eligible for the "3 months free" promo, until I directed her to Apple.com/promo. And then clicked on the "herein" link under the Fitness+ Sentence at the top of the page.

At this point you'll be on the Fitness+ Promotion Terms and Conditions page. I quoted:

"
If you’ve purchased your eligible Apple Watch before the launch of Apple Fitness+, you will have 3 months starting on the launch date to redeem.
"

And she completely agreed with me and started to generate the code. so that would have been it. Apart from the fact that I live in the UK. She said that because I'm in the UK and not the US (I have no idea how I ended up on the US Support line as I called the UK Support number originally.), she couldn't generate the code for me.

She did say that she attached a note to my case number though saying that my Watch is indeed eligible for the promotion. She also mentioned that when I call back tomorrow, i should straight away ask for a Tier 2 Advisor in the "Media Services" department and then give them my case number.

TL : DR - If you can't get the 3 month free trial.

Call Apple Support and ask for a Tier 2 Advisor in Media Services and quote them the Fitness+ Promo T&Cs.

So follow up on this one: I contacted Apple support via chat and was able to get it "resolved". It took a fair bit of time, and I had to be transferred to a senior representative, but they were both very helpful and did a good job of finding a solution in the end.
I provided my invoice (from the Apple online store) as proof of purchase, and to solve the issue they gave me a code to redeem for a subscription in the app. I'm not sure if I just got lucky, or if they did it on purpose just as an added bonus, but the code they gave me ended up giving me 4 months free. So I guess i'll have a little bit more time to try it out and see if it's worth it :)
