Ok, what would YOU call an app that runs on 2 different devices? Since "universal" is so offensive to you I'm guessing you have a better word. Please share.
It's not offensive. It's just an unnecessary confusion created by the fact that Universal Binaries USED to mean PowerPC + Intel. If they wanted to add ARM to that, fine. But since they removed PowerPC, it's certainly NOT "Universal" any longer in any sense of the word. That is my point. What they call it is irrelevant so long as they don't change the meaning of past usage.
They could call it a Combo Binary...oh wait they already use Combo to mean something else. But hey, it's the same difference so why not?
A 'twin' Binary would make some sense since we have OSX and iOS being brothers of a sort (not exactly fraternal since iOS came later, but good enough for an analogy of recent OS versions). Therefore, I'd go with Gemini Binary. It doesn't change any meaning of PPC/Universal and it implies a brother relationship of iOS and OSX whereas Universal was a reference to a processor type (the main OS was the same).
