...we know how to click a photo, thanks. Supposed to be very easy on the iPhone, no? Why all the detailed tutorials??

But that's just it. Most people only use- or only know how to- point and shoot. They open their phone, open the app, tap a photo, done. They probably don't even realize (or forget) there's other camera settings besides the default 'photo', despite the settings being right there. Might seem silly, but it's true.

These videos are probably evidence that these settings lack awareness, since Apple is able to see usage through anonymous diagnostics reports.

I thought the videos did a good job. Fast, informative, and to the point.

Warning: Do not purchase iphone 7. Upgrade is imminent !

Here are a few recent shots using my iPhone 7, shot and edited in Lightroom Mobile using the HDR shooting mode. I've saved them out at a lower resolution. Not bad at all for a phone camera—and even more so if you know how to use it. The amount of bokeh when closely focused isn't half bad, and the tonal range from the tone mapping is pretty solid, even when shooting near directly into the sun.

I'm really starting to enjoy shooting with my iPhone since the Lightroom camera update and look forward to getting some zoom and portrait mode on the redesigned iPhone. Hopefully the next camera sensor has lower noise as that's my main gripe with camera phone sensors in general.

I'm amaze how everything is done within your phone. You can literally produce a masterpiece photo when you are taking a dump.

I know Apple is being defensive against the S8, but they really don't need to continue going bezerk about the 2nd lens. We get it. Samsung doesn't have it...and we know how to click a photo, thanks. Supposed to be very easy on the iPhone, no? Why all the detailed tutorials??

Settle down and produce better hardware. It's apparent they are leveraging the hell out of the 2nd camera. It's their only play until Jan 2018, when the iP8 actually ships.

"Why all the detailed tutorials??"

You may not understand that people who hang out on tech forums a large percentage of their lives and who may know something about phone cameras, are not Apple's main audience.

Rather, Apple's audience is very broad and made up of ordinary people who aren't necessarily tech centric, or photographers, such as: school teachers, doctors, magicians, actors, plumbers, car salespeople, artists, police officers, construction contractors, architects, students, musicians, drywall hangers, office workers, gardeners, soldiers, tailors, and on and on and on. And know next to nothing about making a compelling photograph.

Also... The tutorials are hardly "detailed." They're basically first-level but very important tips that can be effectively communicated in less than a minute. As a photographer, I think Apple did an excellent job making these.

I watched all of these just now, and I think they're pretty great! I consider myself to know a bunch about the iPhone camera and a bit about photography in general, and even I learned a little bit (didn't realize you could adjust exposure by sliding up or down after tapping!). Hopefully these get shared to the general public somehow more.

Apparently, you've never tried to capture Surfing !

Capture Surfing with a smartphone lens?

Nobody is going to care about the little black dot on the sea which you say it's the surfer...

Either got the focal distance or you not!

I love the camera in my iPhone 7 plus but despise the size of this beast. Hope Apple puts in a dual camera/lens in the smaller upcoming iPhone 8.

Not quite. You would be surprised how you could learn Smaller features for taking quality photographs from a turtortial. I think there are a lot of things that make a photograph equally important when it comes to lighting, angles, exposure, distance, etc. I'm Not a photographer, but I would benefit from this. Especially how I like to use my 7+ camera.

The day I need lessons on photography from a Turtle is the day I give up photography.

You may be surprised to find out that there is one third-party app on the iOS App Store that can capture 12 Mpx photos at up-to 30 photos per second, and up-to 30 photos per Burst ... recommend you go to the iOS App Store, and do a search for "motion photography" and check-out the apps with "camera" in their name ... the Max capture perf is the exact same as what GoPro offers.

You have totally missed the point! I think the comment from lk400 was about when shooting on film a few years ago when 5 fps was regarded as quick. Thats why lk400 (and I) find it amusing that people today think 10 fps is slow. Not that faster isn't possible

You can't blame them really , it's making all the money and tbh it was Steve's vision that created it , so maybe the whole iphone / ipad thing really is the future , as much as us old farts want to deny it

There was a wonderful video on YT where the iFund is announced and John Doerr announces that the iPhone is bigger than the personal computer..

Maybe he had a point

It's nice to see Apple giving such these lessons . Unfortunatly all Apple YouTube videos comments are disabled. I just wish they could open up the comments section so that people can share information.

With the cesspit of trolls that is Youtube comments, that's not a good idea.

I like these videos. While I'm familiar with most of it, I believe it's nice of Apple to publish these kind of tutorials. They're easy to understand, and they're short. It could help many people who only make 'regular' photos with their iPhone. And to be honest, the one about shooting a backlit object is actually helpful to me. Because I often find myself in this kind of situation and my 'workaround' is then to simply turn to the other side, you know (so that the light shines against my back)? But this is really helpful, definitely gonna use that solution now.

Hope Apple will do the same for shooting videos!

Look at that - I hadn't actually realised you could change the exposure when you tap focus.

How about an iPhone videography series?

Step 1: Hold the iPhone in landscape mode

You guys realize, that those videos were meant to be a screen capture of what one is doing on the iPhone? Hence the portrait mode. And some videos were shoot in landscape mode were it was useful (burst mode for example).

There used to be an app that would auto rotate the capture to landscape mode when video was selected. I can't imagine it would be difficult to engineer, and surprised Apple doesn't offer such a thing as, at least an option.

Lollll, if you thought trolling was bad here, it's nothing compared to the garbage of Youtube comments. Apple is right to disable them.
