If it's a hardware limitation then why was I able to use Peloton Digital with my HDMI adapter for the past year? There definitely might be some kind of limitation somewhere but when their main competitor is able to do it no problem it really does feel like Apple trying to strong arm customers into buying another apple device.
Not sure that Peloton Digital is Apple’s ”main competitor” for Fitness+. It is, however, much more expensive. At a minimum it is $76 more a year for a single user vs. an annual Fitness+ subscription and goes up to $232 more for two people with a family plan.

It is not a flop in any way. Early reviews and customer response has been overwhelmingly positive.

There are currently about 100 million Apple Watch Customers quite a large target for this product.

The average consumer have never heard of this product, like most products. This is a subscription targeted at a subset of Apple’s customers. Just to be clear, do you believe that Peloton is a flop because they have sold fewer units than the iPhone?

Not baffling at all. From its market research, Apple understands that a video workout streaming service with no other metrics is neither very compelling nor very sticky. Given the Apple Watch’s increasing health focus, a product that is integrated with that is much more interesting. Allowing people to use the service without a Watch is not designed to be their standard interaction, but a special occasion when they have walked out without it, or it is dead.

Can you provide some support for your statement expressing “Stockholder’s” views? There have already been about 100 million Apple Watches sold, and the sales have been increasing. If they were able to get 10% of just the current Watch customers to subscribe to Fitness+, that would likely be about $700 million in on going subscription revenue. A me-too video workout streaming service is just not very interesting and is likely to damage the product and the brand.

Please provide some evidence that there is a huge demand for non-Apple Watch customers to stream video workouts to their iPhones. In addition, since you every number you have presented so far seems not to be low, please tell us how much Apple would need to earn from this product for it not to be considered “a flop” by you. I always like to get people who criticize products days after their launch on record with real metrics so we can judge their statements in a few months.
I have found little reason to "want" an Apple Watch after my first gen got stolen. If Fitness+ turns out to be a great product overall it would likely cause me to have a reason to get the Apple Watch again. Exercising with your iPhone is a bit cumbersome, but do-able, so really slick integration with the watch is a draw for me. The pricing of the SE and other models have been coming down over time as well.

My one really big wish is for a new AppleTV soon. We have two old units that I would love to upgrade.

So I know it doesn’t work over AirPlay but what about using hdmi adapter for iPhone (lightning) or iPad (usb-c)

My BF and I both had Series 0 watches, having switched from Basis Bands (an interesting smart watch/fitness device from a company purchased by Intel for $100 million and then shuttered a bit later). While we liked them quite a bit, it was easy to see why they were not as interesting to others. However, when we upgraded to the Series 3 and then the Series 4, it was night and day. The new watches were so much better and more useful. We are looking forward to our Series 6 watches that arrive in the next day or two.
If Fitness+ turns out to be a great product overall it would likely cause me to have a reason to get the Apple Watch again.
Makes a lot of sense. I think that if you try it, you will discover lots of other reasons to like the Watch, but you will need a compelling reason to try it again. A much higher bar than you would have had to keep it had you had a Series 2 as your first watch.

That is an example as to why they do not want to support Fitness+ without the watch. It is just not compelling enough without that and they do not want to people having a mediocre experience.

My experience exercising with my Watch has helped me remain motivated as I have lost 50 pounds. Fitness+ is really nice, but still early. If you want to avoid the Series 0 problem, wait 3-4 months for them to build out the service before you try it.

We would like that as well. :)

It still baffles me that Apple won't offer Apple Fitness in non-English speaking countries. Even if they were to provide it in my native language I'd prefer English. So why not allow subscribing to the English version then? Urgh.
It’s probably due to international music licensing rights. Apple Fitness + relies a lot on the music. The trainers are constantly referencing and integrating each track into the routines.

Of course they want users to use their Watch and Apple TV. The workouts are designed to utilize this hardware. The same reason they want you to use a Mac instead of PC to run MacOS. Apple is all about hardware + software for every product and service they offer.

You only need to have US address, which you can easily Google for it.
I should have mentioned, I meant specifically making purchases on the App Store. Can you make that work without an American card?

I am on the UK App Store right now but my credit card isn’t from England, so I can’t buy any paid app because my Apple ID just flat out doesn’t accept any non-UK payment method. Says it’s not valid. I’ve tried using all my cards...even Apple Pay, but nothing has worked so far.

Fitness+ still useless to me until it is able to support AirPlay on TVs. And no I’m not buying a three year old Apple TV, why would Apple even think that would be an option?
Why would Apple even think it's an option? Hmm probably for the crapload of people that already own Apple TV's. The same people that would be wondering why the hell Apple didn't make the app for their existing TV? lol...

Can you not mirror the phone app to an Airplay TV?

Not very many people own Apple TV’s, but that’s a different topic.

But no, you can’t Airplay Fitness+ to TVs that support Airplay and that’s what is the most frustrating part.

Apple touted Fitness+ for months while simultaneously opening up Airplay capabilities to any manufacturer who wanted it essentially.

Then Fitness+ is released and they forgot to mention this huge detail that Airplay for Fitness+ is only supported on Apple TV’s.

I don’t even care if the timer and goals appear on the tv, I just need the workouts to be on the tv without having to buy a three year old device that hasn’t lowered in price at all. I can use my phone or iPad while traveling, but at home if it’s not on the tv it’s a useless service for me.

They really messed up the rollout of this to me.

So with your TV and airplay, you’re saying you can’t mirror your phones Home Screen?

I just tried it on mine and I can mirror the entire fitness app to my TV using airplay.
Are you certain? Sounds like your TV’s airplay implementation is crap.

Did you actually start a workout? That's when the video goes black.

Start an actual workout, not a preview or anything else. It will play the sound but no video.

Yes, just buy iTunes gift card. There are many re-sellers on internet or you can ask for some on iTunes forum.
