That’s weird it’s for a later batch and not the launch timeframe

Later manufacturing or engineering changes had a hiccup

Those serial number ranges give me a bit of angst.

Bought a Maytag refrigerator and range for my mom. Found, by chance, an announcement that the same models were being recalled because the fridge would start smoking and could catch fre, and the range would flip into self-clean mode by itself, and would not turn off like if it were put in that mode deliberately, resulting in the range getting insanely hot and causing a couple of fires, and floor damage. I checked the serial numbers, and the fridge was about 1,000 out of their range, and the range was just short of their range. I called, and they flatly denied any kind of assistance. 'It's not int he range of serial numbers, and thanks for calling *CLICK*'. The range DID turn itself on once scaring her, and the fridge made noises like a car idling as it got older. This was all 'pre-buyout', and they are supposed to be much better now, but she couldn't wait to dump that fridge, and I discoed the range, and eventually tossed it after she died. A neighbor wanted it (?) but I took it completely apart and scrapped the parts. I'm not passing on that to anyone. Nope...

And if your AW is in that range, GET IT FIXED even if it's fine. Apple will eventually say 'You waited too long', and you get nothing... Happened with my Butterfly MBP. *sigh*

Remember your watches can’t be damaged, and they aren’t repaired at all. Watches aren’t replaced in store, either. Watches are mailed out to an offsite repair facility and replaced.

Your watch needs to exhibit the issue in the quality program for this to work.
well in case if its display they replace it in some cases. also in other. cases u get the whole watch replaced

Apple today launched a repair program for the Apple Watch Series 6 to address an issue that can cause a small percentage of the devices to exhibit a permanently blank screen.

This problem impacts the 40mm Apple Watch Series 6, and affected devices were manufactured between April 2021 and September 2021. Apple says that Apple Watch Series 6 owners can use the serial number checker on the website to determine whether their devices are eligible for the repair program.

Devices that have been impacted by this issue will be repaired free of charge by Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

The program covers eligible Apple Watch Series 6 models for two years after the first retail sale of the unit.

It looks like the 44 mm is also affected, I just got my apple watch series 6, going black screen of death on April 17, strange strange ... anyone else ?

Looks like my Series 6 was made the week spanning from 9/28 to 10/4 of 2020 so this doesn’t apply…whew, that was a close one! *wipes sweat from brow*
How did you find the manufacture date? My about info only gives serial number.

Which is honestly just flat-out greed on Apple's part at this point.

At a minimum, I should be able to use my watch with an iPad.
The watch routes a lot of its more advanced features through the phone, as well as tying into its notifications and, for non-cellular versions, its full connectivity when not on wifi. The idea is your phone is generally with you as well so the atch can offload a lot of heavier lifting to it, and the more limited standalone feature set on the watch isn't intended as a replacement for your phone. If the watch becomes a more independent device it would make more sense to sever it from the phone, but given the current capabilities built into watchOS severing it from an iPhone requirement would not do great things to watch usability. I would assume the watch team is working on more and more local capabilities, I hope so anyway.
