Good to see that repair process and parts are made accessible to everyone. But don't think a large number of end users are going for self repair. They will likely take it to an authorized repair shop.

Nope, I’ve replaced my 2010 MacBook Pro battery when it was 83%. Paid for the battery and the replacement work on my local Apple Store. No problems.

I’ve replaced my now vintage iPhone’s 8 battery. Three times. Always between 83 and 85%. Paid for the battery and the replacement work at my local Apple Store. No problems.
Apple Stores can do whatever at their discretion, but by their own service policies it’s not standard process. AASPs have less freedom.

Good to have, but there is no way I’m repairing my iPad. That’s why I have AC+.

Would have been nice to have this when my old M1 iPad Pro's screen shattered twice cause I dropped it on my Desk's legs 😢. I dont have an iPad anymore but I would definitely use this if I still had it

You can't even pay Apple, let alone do it yourself, on almost any iPad. I've tried. "Your battery is fine, despite your experience that brought you into the store today".

This news is extremely limited and with quite a high barrier, so no, the right to repair folks aren't gonna shut up yet..

Edit: they do this because they can't/won't replace the battery, when you pay for a swap, they give you a different iPad altogether. since this is a loss for them, they are extremely reluctant to approve them. If you doubt me, try it out instead of arguing. You'll learn something.
