Apple Launching Eight New Products This Month

Apple last month announced a new Mac mini and a new Mac Studio. Both machines start shipping on Tuesday, September 22, which means they will launch in the same month as new iPhones, Apple Watches, and AirPods.

Apple is expected to introduce the unannounced products at its annual iPhone fall event, which is this year carrying the tagline "Surprise and shine." The event takes place on Wednesday, September 9, making this month one of the busiest Apple has had in a while.

We should therefore see eight new Apple products go on sale before the end of September:
  • Mac mini (M6 and M5 Pro): Announced last week, the new models start shipping September 22, with prices starting at $899.
  • Mac Studio (M5 Max and M5 Ultra): Also announced last week, the new models begin shipping September 22, with prices starting at $2,499.
  • iPhone 18 Pro: The flagship device set to be unveiled at Apple's fall event, with a smaller Dynamic Island and a A20 Pro chip.
  • iPhone 18 Pro Max: The device is rumored to gain a camera upgrade exclusive to the larger model, alongside a bigger battery.
  • Foldable iPhone: The company's first foldable is expected to have a ~5.5-inch display when closed, and a ~7.8-inch display when open, plus a super thin design with minimal crease and a durable hinge. It could be called "iPhone Ultra."
  • Apple Watch Series 12: Apple's upcoming smartwatch is expected feature fitness tracking improvements and a faster S12 chip.
  • Apple Watch Ultra 4: Apple's flagship rugged watch is expected to be updated alongside the Series 12, gaining the same S12 chip.
  • AirPods 5: The new earbuds were referenced in macOS 26.7 and are reportedly ready for release, suggesting a launch alongside the new iPhones.
Apple isn't going to release a standard iPhone 18 in September 2026. The lineup will instead focus on more expensive iPhones. The ‌iPhone 18‌, iPhone 18e, and iPhone Air 2 will come out in spring 2027 instead. Apple does not plan to refresh the Apple Watch SE this year.

Apple has held its fall event in the first two weeks of September in each of the last several years, with new iPhones going on sale the following Friday.

Apple's "iPhone Ultra" was recently believed to have a delayed launch running into October, even though it's expected to be announced at the same time as the iPhone 18 Pro models. However, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman said this week he would be "very surprised" if the foldable did not come out at the same time as the Pro iPhones or "very close to it."

"Either on the same launch date, a dual launch, or coming out within weeks later. This idea of a late October, November launch, massive delays, supply chain issues, I don't believe to be the case," he said.

Note that the Mac Studio configuration with 512GB of unified memory is coming in late October rather than on September 22. Every other Mac Studio configuration ships in September.

Going from $599 to $899 is such a massive price increase! Very unfortunate, hopefully it goes back down to the normal price in the next year or two

When comparing to the typical sale price (the absolute lowest this has been in the past) it’s a massive difference compared to the typical $400 micro center price:

Partially component costs, but also because of what people are using them for.

When the mini was primarily positioned as "the most affordable option to be able to run macOS", $599 was a attractive and appropriate price.

The positioning has changed. Now the Neo, not the mini, is the most affordable option to be able to run macOS, and the mini is being pushed as a dedicated AI box as much as a desktop machine.

And the $899 works, as price. It's nowhere near as nice, but you probably are getting your money's worth in terms of the compute you get with the M6.

When you realise that the mini at $899 is still cheaper than the Steam Machine, you can see why Apple believes it can get away with this pricing. If Apple pushed for a more reliable and user-friendly way to run x86 games on a Mac mini, it might have legs as a gaming machine.

That said, I'm kicking myself for not getting an M4 Mac mini at the original $599 price ( but, really, I had and still have no need for one). I'm probably not the only person feeling like this.

Now i will wait for 1" camera sensor, and hopefully next year will be 20th anniversary iPhone with better specs and face id and camera under display
 
Nothing for me here outside of work related curiosity. I am thinking of upgrading my iPhone 14, but I have zero interest in the Pro or Fold models (too chunky and too expensive) or Series 12 Watch or AirPods. I’ll have to wait until spring for the regular 18, 18e and Air 2 models and compare them with deals on the 17.

I’m also more interested in the refreshed M6 MacBook Air and M6 iMac coming probably in October. I’m also curious about the upgraded Neo 2 also probably coming next spring.

I guess all the "home" stuff will be released together - the items you've mentioned + "HomePad" + cameras.

It might be next Tuesday, it might be it's own event, but it make sense for them to be released in conjunction with Siri AI ( so before or around the time of the 27 IOSes)

All the home products together would be enough content for a stand-alone event, but next Tuesday's event might be a "throw everything out there at once" kind of a deal.

Waiting to see the foldable. Have been waiting a long time for it and unfortunately it is going to lack a telephoto lens.

I’d have thought without an iPhone 18 to fill the gap that the ‘home’ stuff would be just the sort of thing to fit in after iPhone 18 pro. unless the foldable is taking that slot. It’s close enough to launch time that AI stuff can be safely promised.

However that’s an awful lot of stuff to present so waiting till after the 27 OS is out could be equally feasible. Launch in November in time for Christmas season and Black Friday.
 
Maybe indeed an Apple Home event in October? With new Apple tv, homepod, and other surprises ? Right before the xmas purchase wave? Including hopefully a big software uI update too because the current home software UI s%#%^cks.

On the surface it seems "light", but, breaking it down, there's the iPhone pro, foldable phone, then a bit on ios27, and more SiriAI, . then watches, then a bit on WatchOS, then a bit on health and fitness, then a bit on new AirPods (if that really happens) and then a bit on the new AirPods settings controls, with graphic equaliser.

That alone is easily enough, in normal Apple event fashion, to stretch out to over an hour.

They could launch everything, and have a 2+ hour event.

i use my mini as a media machine in the living room (infuse, flac audio, dj pro, dj mixer, logic with some plugins and ext. midi controllers). m4 256 is more than enough. glad,i bought one of the latest available for 600. the new base model would be way to expansive and overspec’d for my use in the next 6-8 years
