Anyone notice when switching between the leather offerings for the 13 Pro/Pro Max the buttons feel mushy? It’s usually only one of the three that don’t have the tactical click sound. Worth a return or do they work in overtime?

I only have 1, black apple leather on 13 pm and all the buttons have clicked well.

The metal buttons are one of the biggest reasons I choose Leather over Silicone. They feel perfect so if yours doesnt feel good then it may be defective.

I have 4 of them. Only 1 had perfect clicky buttons all around. The other 3 I had to wiggle the crap out of the buttons for about 2 minutes a piece. Now they’re all perfect. The mushiness has to do with how tight the leather is around the buttons. Some are tighter some are looser

Your last sentence is spot on. The ones that are mushy I noticed when just handling the case without the phone are very weak and flimsy. Instead of the button clicking down the whole side caves with your finger push. Luckily, I was able to get one with no issues at Target of all places this morning. I will just return the other back to Apple. Needless to say there are a lot of inconsistencies with these cases this year as I don't recall having this happen for my 12 PM.

Midnight case here, purchased on launch day at the Apple Store. Perfectly clicky buttons all around.

Definitely return; the buttons are one of the reasons I love these cases.

I have the Midnight case. The volume buttons are tactile, but the power button is a little mushy. I have to press it exactly in the middle for it to respond. If I press the top or bottom of the button, it just feels like I'm squeezing the case.

That's no good. Mine feels nothing like that.

Have you taken the phone out and played with the button? I've heard pushing it up and down slightly and pushing it in hard while the phone is out can help.

I wound up exchanging it for another Midnight case, but the new one had all the buttons mushy and the buttons were even crooked. Instead of taking my chances, I exchanged it for a completely different case. While I'm happy with the case I'm currently using, I'm tempted to either try another Apple leather case (they feel so much better than last year's!) or try an Apple silicone case.

Unfortunately, that seems to be the hand we are dealt this year with annoying little issues in build quality. Maybe just buy a few at one time and of course return whichever have the issue? At least you not trying 1 by 1. There are some good ones out there as I went through 2 myself. I guess with the Silicone its a non-issue although that case can be a lint magnet.

If you're able to go into an Apple Store I would just keep asking for new ones until you get one that works for you. Totally worth the trouble to get a good one.
