Recent reviews say you can’t take calls while the phone is in the case. Are they missing something?
Prior to testing the leather sleeve on Friday, I had turned on auto call and forgot it was on. When I was testing the sleeve, every time I tapped on the display window, the phone answered. I did not realize at the time that i still had auto answer on until late last night.

It is not possible (under normal settings) to answer the iPhone while the phon is in the sleeve.

I really like the sleeves / wallets made by this company:

I purchased a sleeve from them for my XS Max and it was awesome. They have their own online store and I just discovered that they're on Etsy as well.

Back then the XS Max wallet sleeve did not have a lanyard / wrist strap attachment point. I don't know if they've started adding those in their recent models.

The difference between their sleeves and wallets are that the wallets have a front pocket that can be un-buttoned and flipped open.

Nice review, I just processed a return request for the iPhone sleeve I was on the phone for over an hour with support, seems that the iPhone Mini Has a Glitch at least on mine where the screen will not return to normal when you pull it out of the sleeve and it shows an error symbol in the top left corner of the screen. They didn't really seem to know what to do for me offered to replace the phone and replace the case I'm opting to just send it back and go with the Torro.

I get that same screen at times. A simple swipe usually gets it removed. I chalked it up to a software glitch. The Torro case is very nice. I do really like the display window on the Apple sleeve. I also like that it is a lot easier to remove than the Torro (at this point).

Yeah I agree, likely simple software fix but for the price, I'm going to wait until the small bugs are worked out, or just be happy with torro for $100 less. The explanation I had to give Apple support sounded so absurd, I had to explain that the case and the phone respond to one another, it's clear they didn't even know that. After an hour I kindly just asked for a return label and that they report the glitch to engineering.

My leather sleeve for my Pro Max should ship in a week or two....I'm excited to use it. I've never used a sleeve before so I will be interesting experience :)
This is my first time as well. I like being able to use my phone naked now, and then slide back into the sleeve. I also like seeing the time in the window.

I want to get one but I am worried that it may drain the battery quickly as the screen display may keep turning on from time to time in the sleeve when the sleeve is in my pocket.

Will get it after trying it out t the store. This item will be easily available at the stores as I believe not everyone will spend $130 for this sleeve

I just received the Saddle Brown Apple leather sleeve for my iPhone mini. As with the Apple leather and Apple silicone cases, the sleeve case triggers the case tone and color automation when the iPhone is inserted into the sleeve. The iPhone screen turns a light brown and shows the time after being inserted into the case. A light tap on the front of the case also triggers the screen, whereby the time is illuminated in the sleeve. Getting a call with the phone in the sleeve reveals the caller ID in the window display of the sleeve. It is not possible to see text or app notifications from the sleeve window display.

The leather sleeve case is thin and somewhat rigid in hand. However, I do expect the case to soften up and be much more pliable over time. The leather smell of the sleeve case is much more muted compared to the regular Apple leather case.

Shaking the Apple leather sleeve case firmly in a downward motion 4 - 5 times causes to phone to slowly slide out of the case. Testing the Torro case in the same manner did not cause the phone to slowly slide out of the case.

The phone is easy to remove from the sleeve, unlike the Torro leather sleeve pictured below, which holds the phone much more snuggly and takes a little bit of effort to remove. I have only had the Torro leather sleeve 3 days and I expect it to loosen up a little more with continued use.

Both cases shown below offer a soft microfiber lining to protect the phone.

The build quality on the Torro leather sleeve is excellent. The natural leather smell of the case is much more pronounced compared to the Apple sleeve case. The Torro leather sleeve was $39 plus $10.40 shipping from the UK. The Torro case arrived in 3 days via DHL.

I am going to use the Apple leather sleeve for 7 - 10 days, before giving a review as to whether I think the sleeve is worth the price, and whether or not it does a good job protecting the phone. It is too early to say whether or not I will keep the Apple leather sleeve.

The Apple leather sleeve case has a credit card slot in the inside bottom lip of the case that can hold 2 regular size / width credit cards. I found it easy to pull out the cards from the holding slot.
Thank you for an excellent and informative writeup.

Like others here, I can't help wondering whether we are missing some aspect of the functionality of the earpiece cutout? The fact that Apple has provided a cutout for the earpiece means they intend it to be functional. I do not think the cutout is there only for auto-answer calls. Has anyone been to an Apple Store and asked the sales advisors about this functionality?

Hopefully, Apple will come up with a software feature that allows for answering the phone in sleeve, as well as being able to see notifications.
