Apple Leather quality on different bands

I, like many of you, am a fan of Apple's bands. I have a few of the Classic Buckle Bands (after they added stitching to them!) and I recently got a Modern Buckle (Cape Cod). I always assumed the Classic Buckle leather quality was the best but I'm pleasantly surprised with the Modern Buckle Leather. I had one in 2015, but didn't like it as much as the classic buckle back then.

I just thought I'd ask everyone here what their thoughts are on the leather quality across apple bands? I don't know much about this in general. What I do know is that there is clearly a difference between the Apple Classic Buckle and the cheaper 3rd party ones you get on amazon or wherever (but I know there are some good quality ones out there too).

While the first generations of Classic Buckle bands were already really nice, the last generation (with the square buckle) has even softer leather and is supremely comfortable. Actually, I would say the leather is just as supple as the Hermes Feu band (the only Hermes band I have). I hope Apple starts releasing Classic Buckle bands again in the future.

I would agree - I would say the classic buckle feels great. I can’t comment on the Hermes though - I would have imagined Hermes would want its own quality leather to have been better, right? Is it that comparable?

If you ask the Hermes afficionados (there is a dedicated Hermes owner‘s thread on macrumors), they will probably tell you that the Hermes leather is much better. And it is great! But I personally think the later Classic Buckle straps look and feel just as nice.

I have to mention, though, that Hermes uses different kinds of leather for different Apple Watch straps. The one I got (the „Feu“, which is an orange colour) for example is made of „Epsom“ leather. Maybe the other kinds of leather Hermes uses feel even nicer? Best to ask in the Hermes thread, I guess.
