I have the Apple leather on my iPhone 6, and it looks great. Feels a bit slippy though. Can someone comment definitively on the grip of the silicone vs. leather. Is it a lot better?

I had the Apple leather case on my 5S, and I have the silicone on my 6. The silicone has a slightly higher 'grippiness' over the leather, but it's not sticky at all. It's a soft-touch silicone (like the iPad smart covers), and it feels nice in the hand. I do think you'll have better grip with the silicone, but it's not a night and day difference.

in another thread a poster just commented that the leather case gets more grip after the oils from your hand have time to soak into the leather. keep us posted.

Just returned from the Apple Store. I got the silicone and I must say I like the feel much better. FYI it says it's black but it sure looks gray to me.

I don't understand where Apple thinks this is black either. I'd say it's a dark gray at best. Also, I don't get too much lint or dirt sticking to the case as others have said.

Out of all the cases I have had since the original iPhone, I think this one is the best at trying to cover most features people want for a case. Thin profile, grip, slight lip to protect screen, button coverage (and the buttons work perfectly), inner felt lining, and the case covers all sides except the bottom. It also is rounded to keep in line with the new design.

I'm digging my black silicone case. I got it when my Apple Store opened this morning. I was worried about having too much grip and not being able to go in and out of my pocket...but it's smoother than I thought. Enough grip to hold it easier and nothing more. Sorry I can't compare it to a leather case.

I'm getting a little bit of lint sticking to the top, but the main issue I foresee is dust and lint getting stuck between the lip of the case that sticks up past the screen and the trench created by the curved glass sloping down. Just from going in and out of my pocket a few times in 5 hours tons of visible gunk is building up in that area on all sides.

But again, I love the feel of the case a lot more than I thought.

I’ve had both for the X. I like the silicone better since I feel it provides a little bit more protection and it can get wet. However the amount of lint that thing picked up was amazing! I was wiping it off constantly. Maybe the “black” shows more than the others. The leather is slick when your hands are dry but it does improve after some wear. The metal buttons are nicer on the leather. I also find the leather thinner overall than the silicone. I’m torn.

I have both and I like the silicone better.

Smooth and velvety and offers more grip.

Can get it wet too.

I have the white and don’t see much lint or dust stuck to it

I hate the feel of both, but if you need one with grip go with the silicone. The leather is very not grippy.

I’ve had an Apple leather case before however I find I prefer their silicone case better. Also, I’ve tried other cases from different companies but keep coming back to the Apple silicone cases. I like the grip, feel, and overall form and fit of the Apple silicone cases.

I have the leather and the silicone but am liking the silicone more. It has more grip and feels lighter than the leather.

Neither Apple silicon nor leather case could beat otterbox symmetry case especially the clear one or the statement one. Both of them do not expose the iPhone back color that iPhone users proudly chose and bought so technically, the chosen color is not important at since it is covered by another color. So, the question will why the users chose any particular color at the first place?

There is no doubt that the silicone provides much better grip.

I’ve always liked that when I squeeze a leather covered phone, it gives a but giving a more tactile feel. I agree that the silicon case feels good I have always fallen back to leather. Some coconut oil will darken the leather case and make it feel a little more pliable.

I also have both. On my 7 Plus I liked the leather, but seems a little thick for my X. The Apple silicone fits just great and has very good grip--but is a bit of a dust magnet.
