I noticed this exact "colour shift" problem since the first couple of days.
I have had it now for 16 days and it keeps doing it.
I have tried calibrating the monitor a couple of times, but this has not fixed the problem. Today I tried the "expert calibration" option. Let's see what happens... * fingers crossed *
I may try the brightness trick suggested in the Apple forums, even though some have reported it does not have lasting effects.
In any case, we shouldn't have to be dealing with this after having paid $1000 for a monitor!!!

have you tried calling apple care to tell them about the problems you're having? Might be worthwhile. And yes, no one should have to deal with such issues on a $1000 monitor!

I'm curious, how bright is the monitor when compared to a unibody macbook pro 15"?

I run my Macbook Pro 4 bars down from full brightness, anything higher and it feels too bright. I just raised it to full brightness and I had to squint because of the brightness.

The Led Cinema Display is just as bright as the Macbook, they both use Led Backlighting.

I find mine to be slightly brighter than my 13" Alu. Could be because there's many more square inches. I usually run it at 3-4 lower than the top setting on a normal day. In the morning, sometimes lower.

it's hard to describe the brightness of the LED cinema display in words. But take it from me, it's super bright..you'll definitely have to turn the brightness down unless your eyes are really strong. Yes, it's brighter than the MBP and MB as well.
