Hi, I'm about ready to switch to Mac. I was waiting for an iMac update, which, I know may still come in a few weeks(Ha!). But am now thinking a 15 inch Macbook Pro with LED Cinema monitor might be the way to go.

nfbetancur, or anyone: Could you give any more details on your setup. The exact connections and software needed to use both monitors and your laptop stand. Diagrams, 8 X 10 color glossies with circles and arrows.:p

At work I have a Dell laptop to take with me, but in the office I use a docking station and just slide the laptop into that and turn it on. All the connections are built in to the docking station. So then I can use the monitor on the laptop and also a bigger monitor with a full sized keyboard and mouse. It's great. You can have e-mail open on one screen, a database open on the other. Cursor back and forth between them seamlessly and you can grab and open program from one monitor and throw it over to the other.

Thanks.
New to Mac!

There really is nothing to it. Buy the laptop and display, and find a laptop stand you like if your desk doesn't have a shelf or something that you wish to use.

The monitor has a power cord to plug into the wall (just a cord no brick).

A cable comes out of the monitor to the laptop, and attaches at 3 points. 1) power to laptop, 2) mini-displayport, 3) USB.

That's it. The display then has 3 USB ports you can use as a hub for a keyboard, mouse, hard drive, etc.

hmm dilemma, I have a mac book and a PC. I use the PC for gaming and was wondering if I can hook it up to the LED display? If I can then Im buying one right now!

thanks!

No, sorry but you cannot connect it to a PC. Currently, the monitor only works with Apple's MacBook and MacBook Pro products.

ahh nevermind! What about the older cinema display?
The older displays had a single DVI input, so if your PC has a DVI output you can connect it. However, since it has only 1 input you cannot connect both you MB and PC at the same time. There are many displays on the market however that have multiple inputs; mine has HDMI, DVI, Component, Composite, and S-Video, and I keep several devices connected all at the same time.
