At the risk of sounding stupid, anybody knows if that applies to the 2 london stores too? Regent Street and Brent Cross?

Please....

It's not going to be absolutely perfect. It never is. So if you're prone to whining and complaining (and you know who you are) please wait for 10.5.1.

In any event, do the Archive and Install.

Thank you, and have a nice Leopard Day.

While I may be in the minority here, I for one, will not be going mainly because I want to hear the reports on the the released version. I'm sure it will run fairly smoothly and will probably be incredibly awesome with the 300+ new features, but I can wait. Someone else can have the free T-shirt.

That, and the fact, I would get an new iMac 24" when this came out and I need a few more weeks of saving before I can go get one.:(

Since when was 6pm to 10pm all night? Lightweights. ;)

Well, Apple turned 30 last year, and after 30, "All Night" means "Until Dawn" only when used in the past tense. In the future tense it refers to "until about 11, or 10 if we're tired" :D

If by some crazy fluke, Steve chops $200 off the cost of the iMac or introduces a $900 minitower with a dedicated graphics card on friday, I'll be getting myself a birthday present a day early. If not, I'll get mine in a few weeks, I have rent to pay. Have fun, whoever's going!

Though i am not into any of this type stuff, because it is truly a waste of life

No way, man. These are the type of events that create memories; that give you the sense of community and connection, and let you feel like part of something that's bigger than yourself. It's not so much about the product as it is about the people.

Like Woodstock, without the smell.

Are you sure about that? The university my girlfriend attends said "We probably won't have OS X Leopard in stock on launch day... but it'll arrive here a few days later."

That's why I broke down and pre-ordered one online with the paltry $16 student discount. I really didn't want to be without it all weekend long while everyone else is installing it and playing with it while they're off work.

Haha I have a similar problem. Up-To-Date says ships by Oct 26th so I'm worried I won't have it until Monday, but I can't see spending an extra $110 just to get it a few days earlier. Just have to suck it up...

But the core theme of the event is: sell Leopard, and create free marketing. AKA increase profit. Apple (or any other corporation) doesn't do things for the community. They do things to increase profit. Plain and simple :)

My college bookstore claims that they will have it in stock on launch day. I do not believe them, but that is what they are telling students.

So if you end up at an apple store but are not buying leopard (I need a video adapter for my MBP), do you still get a shirt, or is it just if you buy leopard?

No doubt. The product is there for profit. But the people go there for a more personal reason, whether they're just such an Apple fan that they need the OS the night it's available, or they want the shirt to say "I was there," or they just want an excuse to be around a brand they admire. All of these are situations which put you in with like-minded people.

And I'd like to think that Jobs, himself, is at least a LITTLE about the community, and not all about cash.

A mini tower? Jobs himself said it's an "all-in-one world". Besides the mini there's won't ever likely be a "separate" CPU.

It's exciting. I'm planning on going with my halloween costume on--I'm dressing up as the Finder this year--and maybe a leopard print headband or something. Of course, then my wife will probably want to go out to dinner after, so the costume idea will have to be axed.

Go to dinner in your costume, you know you want to.

Plus, I demand pics of you dressed up as the Finder.

what time should i get to the store? (chicago) The lady at the apple store said people would start lining up in the morning. I just want to be the first 500 to get a shirt.

also, if i start lining up at about 12 noon, will they let the people in the store in the order of the line at 6pm? or will they just open the doors and people can just walk in without getting in line?

someone want to give me a new macbook to replace my powerbook G4 so I can be excited about leopard? :D

jk unless you want to.

As far as I know, they should let the people in in the order that they lined up in. It would be VERY stupid of them not to, considering those people have been lining up for hours there :)

But what do I know? They might do it just to be spiteful. ;-)

Canada Apple Store

Can you tell me for what stand the "*" after "Live demos, free T-shirts,"?

Also, does someone know if Canadian's Apple Store will have the "All Leopard. All night" event either?
