That’s not going to pay for the support, electric, hosting, bandwidth, wages, software development or the payment processing all of which is included in that percentage
If they can‘t someone else will. They can also rely on donations and make this platform a nonprofit and transfer it to a SIG (special interest group) for management.

So what is the exact % where Apple breaks even? You obviously have some insider information based on your comment.

How exactly will the consumer “win”? This is a win for Netfix and the others that qualify for this, consumers will not see any savings.

its a consumer win when a corporate has one less power they have control over. You might not see savings, but you actually might. Some developers that no longer have to pay the %30 apple tax, might be able to sell their $100 app at $90 or $80...who knows?!

If you don't want to give up 30% for a marketplace that another company has to build, don't sell your product there in the first place. Simple logic. Now, that being said Apple could offer also a TIER system that lowers its fees as you sell more. But that's another discussion.

Exactly.

Your Netflix subscription price or Spotify subscription price isn't going to drop because of this news.

And speaking of Spotify... will this put a stop to their EU investigations?

Spotify's main complaint was that they couldn't send people from the app to their website to have people purchase their subscriptions there, right?

This seems to solve that.

Now Spotify can focus on why they continue to lose billions of dollars every quarter because music streaming is a horrible business to be in.

They won't be able to blame Apple anymore...

:p
It levels the playingfield, now apple cannot compensate its losses on applemusic anymore with the 30% taxes it charged competitors. Instead, apple now has to make a difference to lure a customer with price, quality, features, interface etc.
Until now apple was not able to attract subscribers, despite the financial advantages or the more expensive Spotify subscribtion.

Suddenly this could amount to 155 million (subscribers) paying 3$ a month to Spotify (times 12 yearly).

With this I forsee a bright future for the customer and Spotify.

Next; sideloading, more appstores, non-apple integrated services?

We should clarify... Spotify is not doing subscriptions in the App Store anymore. You have to go to their website to signup and pay Spotify directly.

So Apple is currently getting 0% of Spotify revenue. And Spotify is getting 100% of their revenue.

But I think Spotify's complaint is that they do want sell subscriptions in the App Store... but they don't want to pay any fees.

We'll have to see how that pans out in the courts.

Right now... this is what you see in the Spotify app on iOS:
