what is Boxing day?

I was going to label you, but then I guess I should label myself for assuming that Boxing day was a universal holiday.

Anything involving Aussies and money saving? I mean with our dollar bottoming out, Apple AU should be able to say, give me a discount on those new in-ear earphones :D

any ideas on whether the black Friday discounts will be available in Canada and if so whether it would be available in addition to the educational discount?

We don't get Black Friday here in the UK.

The traditional time for sales is immediately after Xmas, on Boxing Day, or New Year's Day leading into the first week of January. Almost every retailer participates...

...except one that I can't quite pin my finger on, some computer manufacturer based in Cupertino. Killjoys. :(

Yup. And they could do with joining in because they're setting quite high prices at the moment.

No Black Friday in Canada, we have Boxing Day on the 26th of December but it really lasts a month or more here. Sometimes you get better deals on the last week then you actually do on Boxing Day.

Black Friday Announcement is...

When do we find out about what's for sale on Black Friday from Apple? It's not like they use flyers.

Apple Store retail discounts are nice since you can walk in and out.

MacMall/Amazon don't charge sales tax for many states, so that makes a big diff too. (Apple online store does charge sales tax for all states).

So what is the primary difference between apple store purchase and macmall online purchase besides price? Applecare will work on an laptop purchased from macmall right? Normally, if the price difference is 40-50 bucks...i'd say..just get it from apple store...but if we are talking about 200-300 difference black friday...i am more interested in macmall.

Return policy on macmall?

Basically...what are the cons of purchasing from macmall?

I can't remember, but is there any sale price off the education price? I bought applecare last year, and thats it so I dont remember if there was or not.

Wirelessly posted (my blackberry pearl: BlackBerry8130/4.5.0.77 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105 UP.Browser/5.0.3.3)

The black Fri sales are excluded from the education discounts, correct?

yes, but what about corporate discounts?

Thanks for the cool info!

I thought it was the day people fight in line during the day-after-Christmas sales...

Seems that way here in the US... ;)

yep - I try to stay away the day after Chrismas, since the sales usually last all week long. Between the sales and the returns - just to crowded.

boxing day in the USA (although not official):

Put it in a box and send it back. If you can't then off it goes to charity or recycled as a gift next year for someone. Note - I never recycled a gift, but swore I received a gift I gave the person a year before....

This seems cool, but not in a market for a pro. already moved the mini to the bedroom and connected to our HD TV. Although, I may get another mini for the livingroom, unless an :apple:tv would allow me to connect an external drive and use it as a hub for my music and videos.

Hmm.. I wonder, MACMALL is selling a white macbook for $868 while supplies last (older one with combo drive and only 1 gb). I wonder if black friday, they would drop that to about $700. they do, and I am calling my music pastor - he needs one.

I hope they do such thing here in the UK. £10 off a pink nano is good.
It will be a good present.

Is this likely in the UK too? If so, I think I need to transfer some money fir the big day.

BLACK FRIDAY sales on online apple store in CANADA?

Would this and has this sale included the online Apple store in Canada (apple.ca)? Cuz if so, then thats definetely the day that I'm buying the new macbook.

I have the same question... I will be looking at Macmall and Amazon on black Friday... Amazon sells Applecare for 50 bucks cheaper too... (on the MBA).

The no sales tax thing is big, but I want to be able to take it back/get replaced at an Apple Store should it have any issues... (horizontal lines, etc).

Anyone?

Apple will replace it under warranty of course (depending on how severe the problem is), but you cannot take it back to an Apple Store to return it as they are not the retailer of the product. I believe you can ship it to MacMall, but I am not 100% sure on that.

I know that you can get it replaced and repaired as my MacBook is from MacMall and Apple just recently replaced the entire shell from hairline cracks under warranty with no cost.

I have been checking out J&R Computerworld...

They have a %7 Live.com rebate... (not sure if they will have any black friday deals) Anyone dealt with these guys? Would love to get any opinions on getting a MBA from one of these other retailers.

Thanks!!

Maybe instead of the $100 off, they could offer a computer + ipod deal on Black Friday to get people to come in, just like the back to school promo. I'd be more excited about that than $100 off.

I would agree...only because an iPod is worth more than $100.
