Apple has listed products eligible for upcoming sales tax holidays in select U.S. states, including Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Missouri, Tennessee, and West Virginia. Some other states will also be holding sales tax holidays, such as Massachusetts, New Mexico, and South Carolina, but they have yet to be added to Apple's list.

Sales tax holidays provide a limited-time opportunity to purchase select Apple products online or in stores without paying sales tax. Eligible products and price limits vary from state to state, with complete details outlined on Apple's website. Apple says tax savings may not appear during checkout, but will be reflected on the final receipt.

The tax-free holidays begin in late July to early August. Depending on the state, eligible Apple products may include Macs, iPads, iPhones, and/or accessories.

Sales tax holidays are especially beneficial to students, as the tax savings can be combined with Apple's ongoing Back to School promotion, which offers students up to a $150 Apple gift card with the purchase of an eligible Mac or iPad, as well as 20% off AppleCare+ plans. This is in addition to Apple's educational discounts on select products.

A big electronics chain made a „no sales tax“ promotion the other day and things were more expensive than the week before because they deducted the tax from the „retail price“ which they never sell it for anyway. So sneaky
Deceitful promotions from retailers are nothing new, they're practically required to join the club. Apple isn't deceiving anybody here, but you would almost certainly be better off waiting for a Black Friday or other such promotion and paying tax rather than paying full price from Apple during your state's tax holiday. I'm waiting for an M3 anyway so I won't be participating.

Does this work if purchasing through the employee store? I have a friend that may share his employee discount. Mixed with the no sales tax, I may have to jump on finally replacing my 2017 iMac.
I'm considering a studio display and Mac mini.

Windows XP I get but nobody ever wanted to run Outlook Express.
Not sure what you are basing this on. You realize there is a lookalike email client out there called "OE Classic". No relation to Microsoft, it exists because there was a large enough audience of people who liked Outlook Express and didn't want to have to learn another program long after Microsoft stopped supporting it.

Did anybody actually use Outlook Express?

We tried it for a while in the mid 90s but ended up going with Eudora, then eventually AOL’s client.

In other news, I’m old.

Mostly the people who were tricked by the "Outlook" part of the name which was of course Microsoft's plan.

Similarly, had to explain to many people that Microsoft Works is not Word and vice versa.

I'm starting to get old myself.
