iPod touch Apple logo on startup????

Hi I just got an iPod Touch yesterday and when I first start it up the apple logo that shows is not complete there is like a curved line through it.

Is this how it is suppose to be?

Yeah, when I first saw that (on my iPhone?) I thought it was a cracked apple, indicating some kind of serious error (anyone remember the bomb icon from old Macs?)
