Apple Logo question on iMac

Are the Apple logos on the frame of the iMac supposed to be lit when the machine is on? Sorry if this is a dumb question. I just bought this iMac and just learning my way around.

It doesn't light up on my wife's Alum iMac.

That's on laptops the logo will illuminate, because of the backlight for the LCD
