I have 2nd generation AirPods I would only buy another pair if the sound quality improved substantially. For the money they are lacking. Apart from that great to use.

I love Apple products like crazy but I am scared to death to spend big money on something I may easily lose or accidently wash in my clothes. I can get good enough ear pods for 20-40 at the local drug store. I will still hate if I lose them, break them on pavement or wash them in the washing machine but I could replace 10 or so what I buy compared to one pair of Apple ones. That being said I would love to have a pair of Apple Ear Pods but I got other future Apple purchases I want to use that money on.

As far as i'm concerned and from what i see around there is no competition.

You're not looking hard enough. The Sony WF1000XM3 run circles around the AirPods in sound quality and noise cancelation. They also feature a user replaceable battery so you don't have to throw your earphones in the trash when they start to last only 30 minutes, unlike the AirPods.

still don't get the "truly wireless earbuds" thing.

really happy with my oneplus bullets wireless 2. still last me a bit more than 10 hours per charge after using them almost daily for 1.5 years

I don't care. I like how they look, i like how they sound and i like the integration with all my devices. I had them for 11 months and they definitely last more than 30 minutes.

To be honest, the whole world is being mugged by all of these expensive branded units.
No one is being mugged.
People are forking over there money willing.
If you want to get the true meaning of mugging, try standing on the end of the platorm in the wee hours or the morning on the 4, 5, or 6 lines.

when the AirPods launched there was really nothing like them on the market
Isn't that how Apple always operates? They find a niche and innovate in that space, setting a standard that other companies want to emulate. The other companies catch up with their imitations after a few years, and by that time Apple has moved on to innovate in a different space.

Soon Apple will no longer be number 1. Most people are poor and can’t afford AirPods at Apple’s price points. If the alternative is good most people will choose them over Apple’s overpriced product.

Problem is the battery life. After two years you can basically throw them away. Not worth 280€ tbh.

Never will go with the pro models, like my 2nd gen airpods. For years I was a tws i7 bud user because they were less than $20 and would last half year with daily use. Every time an AirPod drops out of my ear and I have to look for them I remember why I bought the cheaper buds.

Yeah, but here’s the thing... Apple may be losing market share, but something tells me they aren’t worried at all. They sell a TON of them still at higher prices. They’re making so much money off of AirPods.

They’re breaking records every quarter despite being “overpriced”.

You are not looking any further than Apple then, there is no way you can say there is no competition to Air Pods.
Looking hard enough is an acedtoal experience, therefore irrealvant.

Again, anecdotal.
Whether Sony runs circles around Airpods or not is no indication of how wide spread Sony adoption is.
Without Sony sale number vs Airpods sale number, "looking hard" is meaningless.

At first, there was nothing else like them so of course I bit. But after my OG AirPods started lasting about 15 minutes after a full charge I bought some $30 Jlab earbuds and honestly they’re just fine. I can’t see myself spending $160 again for disposable tech. If Apple offered an affordable recycle/repair option, then I might consider going with AirPods again.

No wonder at the price of the AirPods pro and they fall out your ears all the time.

For me as an Apple user it's the best option. They are very convenient. Have a nice day.
Apple forced that convenience on us. I have to say Im getting really mad that I have iPhone (lightning port), MBP (headphone jack) and iPadPro (USB c) and either have to have 2 dongles or Im being forced into the wireless buds territory. And no, no one will convince me that there was "no place" in iPadPro and iPhone to have jack. The whole waterproof idea is also a scam.....

It really is a price point issue in a new economy reality. The majority of $25-30 bluetooth earbuds do the job just fine. I can replace them 9-10x for same price as the AirPod Pro's. The regular AirPods just are not comfortable for many. (Same issue with the bundled corded Apple headphones.)

Got my wife the Air Pod pros. Unbelievable and apples integration is unbelievable. Next up will be 3D directional sound. Amazing. But totally understandable that the market is expanding.

Waterproof is great but I am also sad to lose the port.

I have Powerbeats3 for running. My wife had 20$ random amazon. The Powerbeats are better but not 10x better. The premiums on some of this tech is ridiculous.

If Apple are going to release AirPods Pro and charge £249, they need to do so without issues like crackling and static sound when using the noise cancellation. Other than that I do like using my AirPods Pro for when I go on a run.
