I found another thread in the archives that did this with a multi-step PS action. I think that might be more telling about performance (vs. a single action that no one ever uses), but I don't know if it would work with PS Elements.

I yearn for a Dual 2.0 G5. But for now, my 1.6 will have to "suffice" 😉

Bro, apple refurb $1600. Your 1.6ghz G5 sells on ebay for $1275. That is $325 for a major cool upgrade. Put it this way, I had an old tibook lying around that I wasn't using, put it on ebay got $1590 for it. Bought the Dual 2ghz G5 only cost me like $70 difference with tax and stuff. I get it tomorrow then I am taking back this 2.5ghz G5 to compusa. AND I AM GLAD seeing as how my 2.5ghz G5 matched the 2ghz G5 on this test. And I save over $1000. Dual 2ghz G5 is the sweet spot for sure.

And this didn't even have a pic.

14 minutes, 57 seconds.

Photoshop 3.0.1 running in classic mode (I wonder what the time would have been with an OS X native version of Photoshop). Computer specs are in the signature.

I remember Photoshop filters all being zippy in OS 9 on a lesser machine than I have now, but then I've never used radial blur, so it may be a real CPU killer.

mcr, are you seriously getting under 2 second times?

Well, I went to Adobe's site and downloaded the 30 day trial of CS2 to see if there will be any difference. [as a nice sidenote, my download from them was at 425-450 KB/sec--way to go Comcast!]

With CS2: 6 minutes, 50 seconds.

With 3.0.1 in Classic mode: 14 minutes, 57 seconds.

Needless to say, there is a difference!

Well I don't have a Mac.........but an Intel 😱

1min 58 sec with Bitlord running.

Pentium 4 2.8Ghz
512MB RAM
GeForce FX 5200 128MB
PS 7 🙄 Not too bad.....but bad 😛

On my work Dell (that I have been assured by my IT department is better than any Mac 😀) 1m15sec on PS elements, 3 Pentium[r] 4 CPU 3.2ghz 2gb ram, i have been told it has multithreading what ever that is!

2 mins 19 seconds on a 12" PowerBook (1.5GHz 512MB RAM) running Photoshop CS

...and now my fan is roaring...

4 mins 34 secs

iBook 1.25Ghz G4
768MB RAM
OS X Panther

🙁

Just changed the RAM preferences in PS and the good little iBook did the job in 2 mins 39 secs.

😀

Dual 2.0 w/ 2GB Ram = 50 sec
Ditto... Amazed to see how close different peoples machines are.

I am so pleased I hit the sweet spot of Powermacs when I bought in late '04.
