I ordered and received a 2021 white MK order from Amazon. It was a purchase from Amazon, not a a third party seller via Amazon.

It arrived in a large envelope that has almost no padding (little bubbles the size of eraser heads). The MK box has a slight ding in the corner. The shipping packaging, to say the least, was disappointing.

The box itself was wrapped in a clear, baggy, type wrapping. The shrink wrapping was very loose. It was torn where the box was dinged (I assume in transit due to the poor packing envelop shipped by Amazon).

The Apple box itself had no sealing tape. Note, almost everything I've purchased from Apple comes in a box that is sealed with a green dot on the end of a sliver of a clear tape. Usual two strips. This box had none.

Upon opening the box and pulling out the MK I see it is wrapped in a semi-clear almost cellophane like material. It looks to be sealed at the top, and I have not opened it.

I'm wondering if I've received an "Open Box" Mk sold as new by Amazon? Don't even get me started on fears of "fake/knock-off" merchandise. o_O

I am tempted to return it for a full refund.

This keyboard? This is what the packaging would be like.

Honestly the exterior cellophane is likely to get damaged just at Amazon alone. The ding as well. Ever watched one of their warehouse videos? If the internal wrapping is as it should be, odds are that was the case.

If it works, and the device itself is free from blemishes, then why send it back? For the packaging?

OP here. Yes, the You-Tube video was very helpful!

I rummage around in my waste basket and found the clear plastic box wrapping. The "signature" pull tab still intact. I must have opened it using the tear in the plastic wrapping, so I didn't see it. ☺️

I also saw in the video the translucent wrapping around the MK itself. It looked the same. I inspected the MK and tried it out. So far so good.

I still don't know why Amazon would ship such an expensive device like this in such a lightly padded envelope. And I told them that in my feedback.

Thanks all for your help and sharing your good advice. Happy Holidays!!!
