I'm thinking about getting the Apple Magsafe battery pack for an upcoming trip to Europe where I'm thinking the heavy use of camera, translator, maps, and so forth might mean that my iPhone 12 Pro that currently only has 84% battery capacity left will struggle.

I'm wondering if any of you have any guesses as to whether that Magsafe battery pack would work with the iPhone 15 Pro. I know, we have zero information about any of this, but if you were to put your best guess, what do you think it would be and why?

I think it’s safe to assume the new devices will have MagSafe. Not only is it a beloved feature and big money maker for Apple in licensing fees, iOS 17 features nightstand mode which is a dedicated MagSafe feature.

True. MagSafe will be around. I wonder if there will be any changes to the physical format that makes the battery not compatible. For example, cameras bump too big and so the older style MagSafe battery doesn’t fit well.

they found code in ios 17 that references a new magsafe battery pack so i‘m not sure if you’d want to hold off. they released the last one in the middle of the summer but who knows when this new one will come out

No, nothing to worry about. It will exactly fit for sure. There so many third party sellers out there at this time, Apple will not destroy those. The MagSafe is an Apple standard that is here to stay. Heck, they even think about to abolish the standard power plug and do everything through MagSafe only. At this time, chances are higher that the 15 Pro will lose its lightning port than MagSafe. Don't worry about it, you will be able to use that battery.
Oh, and congrats on that upcoming trip. You will have a ball depending which locations you have picked.

I think MagSafe is fine, but I'd hold off on buying backup iPhone cables with a lightning connector.
That’s a great point I didn’t even consider. I haven’t seen any rumors personally, but there’s a chance they’ll release a USB-C version of the battery pack when the iPhone 15 line comes out.
