apple mail and hotmail

I am new to macs, and am not familiar with the whole popmail idea, but I am interested in being able to have my hotmail email sent to my apple mail account so that I can be notified of new email in my hotmail account through a dashboard widget.

Unfortunately I am having a problem setting it up. Its just not working.

Im not sure if Im doing something wrong...

Please help.
 
I guess there is supposedly a way to do it with http/mail or whatever, but I've tried tons of different ways...just hasn't worked. I'm just using my gmail pop account from Mail instead...hate hotmail...
 
If you download it, there is a ReadMe file included in the download. That'll have the installation instructions.
 
That http mail thing does work because I use it.

When you go to set up an account you get a http mail options aswell as the usual like POP3
 
Unfortunately httpmail only works for some hotmail accounts. If you have no luck with httpmail, and I sincerely hope you do as it is the easiest solution, you can try freepops, although it is not nearly as straightforward as httpmail and not without its own quirks.
 
Thanks you guys for all your help... but, because of some advice I've been given, and come across on other posts, Im going to stop using my hotmail account and exclusively use my gmail account. I think thats really the best option.
 
if i have tried freepops and httpmail and they have both failed, is there anything else i can try?😕
