I've tried to change the default Font & Color of email messages in Apple Mail, but it won't let me. I "Select" a new size, font, and color, but the changes won't take affect. Anyone else experiencing this?

I fixed it myself by Repairing Permissions and restarting the computer. Worked.

I have the exact same problem: unable to change default font style of email since I installed Yosemite. Never had this problem before. Really frustrating.

Could you explain how you Repair Permissions? I really need to change my default font in Mail as well.

How were you able to do that? I took someone else's advice and seem to have made my problem WORSE!! They said to go to ~/Library/Preferences and look for a file called and delete the file and it should restore everything back to normal.
Well other people on that forum were saying it worked like a charm! Well, in my case, I couldn't find it, so I typed ~/Library/Preferences into my internet search bar, and clicked on and it downloaded the file... so I immediately trashed it! Well now I don't even get the OPTION of changing the default color! OH NO!!! My SN is literal... I'm not mac savvy at ALL!!!

See the picture of what my option is now when I try to change my font...
