Apple Mail/Gmail issue

I can't check for messages -- I get a warning sign and it says:

"There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Check the settings for account "Gmail" or try again.

The server error encountered was: The connection to the server "pop.gmail.com" on port 995 timed out."

The thing is though, all the settings are correct and it was working fine yesterday. 😕

I'm on 10.4.5, btw.

crap happens

this happens from time to time, the gmail server just goes down for a lil bit. Usually updating etc. No worries it will be back in a while. Its kinda like the apple store on conference days.

Gmail is just down for the time being. At least it is for me. It says it will be back momentarily.
