Outlook 2007 sucks 2010 works

I am testing this right now, and the problem is the outdated versions of Outlook. 2007 will not right click and save but copy the image. 2010 will give you an option to save it as a jpeg but destroys the image name making you have to save it as something specific. Yes, Outlook needs to make rich text and inline images work on their application. Sucks that Mail will not be able to do HTML messaging as well.

it's an old post but I had to comment on this idiots answers...he obviously has no clue what the concern is, it's widely discussed with no good work around. The issue has never been resolved on the Outlook end and it has everything todo with how mail.app encodes embedded objects. They are simply two different systems doing their own thing...with no standards in mind.

New Mac user, very confused. When I attach pictures to a Mac mail email and send it to my Outlook mailbox (2011) through my work Exchange server, I get only embedded pictures and there is no way I can see to download all the pictures at once. This is a real problem as I sometimes need to download 15 or 20 images out of a Mac mail email. Certainly there must be some way to download attached pictures all at once; I just don't see how. When I click on Message/Attachments, the options to save are grayed out. WTF???

After some research I realized that essentially Mac mail cannot send images as attachments that are NOT embedded, which makes it impossible to download multiple images at once (each one must be clicked on independently). I guess most people already know this, which I consider to be a joke given if you are using Exchange, Outlook or Gmail and receive images from Mac mail downloading more than one is a PITA. Best option is to actually buy Attachment Tamer which corrects this absurdity for $15. I do like my Mac, but this kind of behavior is stupid. More people use Outlook than use Mac mail. Multiple arguments about who's at fault, but to me clearly Apple just doesn't care. Irritating enough to me to just use Outlook. At least I know what I'm sending out can be used efficiently by others. I frequently have to send out emails with multiple pictures to multiple users and Mac mail does not cut it.

davidra, this is probably the most sensible comment in the entire thread (since 2008?) !

I am having the reverse problem where I cannot save the 'embedded' images sent to me from a Mac user (who couldn't be arsed making things simple for all his recipients.) The last time he sent me a bunch of valuable images, I had to copy them INDIVIDUALLY to an image manager program such as MS Paint & then reformat each pic before I could save them to a folder....took me forever.

I'm still using Windows 2007. Does anyone have a more expedient method of saving these embedded images into an MS directory/folder?

Problem Still exists

I just wanted to confirm for everyone that the problem still exists.
We are running Exchange 2003 (yes, still) and our MacMail on iMac still has a problem with text vs html attachments.

We have confirmed:
  • the signature needs to be set to: none
  • No text in the message
  • Image path button needs to be used instead of drag-n-drop
