Apple Mail is not responding

Hi all,

I was hoping someone can help me. I created a new message in Apple Mail with about 1000 email addresses. When I hit "send", Mail stoppped responding and overall performance is really slow. Can anyone provide any tips on how to stop/delete the action? I think that some of the addresses are invalid so mail is having a problem with it. Thanks!
