Apple Mail notifications on MacBook Air

For some strange reason when MacBook is asleep and I get a mail notification they come and go off the screen so fast I can't read them. I did not have this problem with my former Intel based MacBook pro. How do I fix this?

Sleep Mode is not meant for you to be able to read the screen as if the Mac was still being used. Sleep Mode allows the Mac to continue to do some basic tasks like fetching mail, thus allowing the user to have an up to date inbox when the Msc is no longer in Sleep Mode.

I don't have to explain why your old Mac did what whatever it did. Look up Sleep Mode. When my Macs are asleep, if I am in the room when I get mail, I can hear the mail alert sound but, the Mac screens do not come on. And that is how it works.

I don't know. It really doesn't matter now as you have a new Mac that is working as it should.

Oh yes it's a million times better!!! The M2 does many many many laps around the Intel i5.

Review your notifications for Mail ...

Settings > Notifications > Mail

Banners appear and go away while Alerts stay until dismissed. Perhaps your old Mac used Alerts and your new Mac is using Banners.

Set new mac to use alerts.
