Apple Mail or Outlook for iOS app? Help me decide on which one is better

I had been using the Apple Mail app for years now only because it has a more sleeker design.

But from a security standpoint, I don’t know if the Apple Mail app supports the Modern Authentication protocol or not as opposed to the Outlook app.

Apple Mail is better and generally more secure in my view.
Outlook uses proprietary protocols that have been found insecure a couple of times and likes to use very insecure presets. And it's just really bad to deal with, even though the apple version is usually better than the one for Windows.

If you don't trust Apple, I would look for other 3rd party products. It's important to configure the transport correctly between server and client. But since mail is generally not safe, maybe you'd like to go with an addon (e.g. gpg) that allows for authentication and encryption between parties.

I remember having used K9 Mail in earlier times on mobile, but I see it's not available for iOS.

A little info about it.

"Outlook for iOS and Outlook for Android support only the Wipe Data command, which wipes only data within Outlook. The Outlook app will reset and all Outlook email, calendar, contacts, and file data will be removed, but no other data is wiped from the device. The Account Only Remote Wipe Device command is therefore redundant and is not supported by Outlook for iOS or Android.

However, if a native iOS or Android mail app is connected to Exchange and receives a Wipe Data command from Exchange ActiveSync, all data on the device will be wiped, including photos, personal files, and so on.

If a native iOS or Android mail app is connected to Exchange and receives an Account Only Remote Wipe Device command from Exchange ActiveSync, only the native mail app's Exchange ActiveSync mail, calendar, and account data are wiped."

So in other words if you use the Outlook app, a remote wipe will only delete the account data in the Outlook app itself, nothing else on the phone is touched.

If you set up Outlook using Apple Mail app and a remote wipe is performed, then the entire phone is erased. There is even a note when you set up an Exchange account using the Apple Mail app that says:

Adding an Exchange account will allow the Exchange administrator to remotely manage your device. The administrator can add/remove restrictions and remotely erase your device.

The most secure is Proton Mail. It’s encrypted end to end. But using the app is nowhere near as nice or sleek as using iOS Mail

If you need modern authentication and connect to a work account for Exchange (and Teams etc) I'd use Outlook just for that one. Never a good idea to mix work and personal accounts in the same mail client. We actually enforce the use of Outlook and yes can control business data and remove it from the device...
