Apple Mail refuses to work!

Hi folks,
All of a sudden my Apple Mail refuses to send or receive mail (from a Gmail account)
I checked "connection doctor and i get this:

Then, after 2 or 3mn i get this:

And if i clic "Activity"i get this

Any idea about what's wrong?
(My MBP runs OS X 10.7.4, Mail version is 5.2)

Clear the mail cache

Try clearing mail.app's cache. I have had this problem and this worked for me:

Delete everything in: Users/[user name]/Library/Caches/com.apple.mail

I have 1 library here:

another one here:

But none here:


Any clue? Thanks!

The user Library folder is hidden by default in Lion and that is why you are not seeing it.

/Users/gaurish/Library/Caches

Click on your desktop to bring focus to the Finder. Then type shift-command-g (all three keys at once) and a box will come up. Copy/paste the line above into the box and hit enter. That will get you in the folder Frederico mentioned.

Yes that would have been much simpler and I am a dope for not catching it myself.

ok found the answer... From terminal i got the hidden library back then i deleted everything: http://apple.stackexchange.com/ques...reset-apples-mail-in-lion-to-default-settings
and now it is working
