'apple mail' sending progress

is there any way to show a gague to show progress of a sending task in mail? like a 'x kb out of y kb' or 'x% done'?

the only one i see is the wee spinning progress mark beside the 'sent' tray and that just shows that its sending, but not how long until completion.

In Mail 1.x there was a status bar that showed that. For some INSANE reason Apple removed that in 2.0. But you can use the Activity Viewer (Window menu -> Activity Viewer or just hit cmd-0) to get some of that information.
